Volunteer on a conservation-focused private game reserve in South Africa’s Klein Karoo and take part in meaningful wildlife protection efforts. This immersive program supports free-roaming species such as lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and meerkats while contributing to long-term ecosystem preservation. Volunteers assist with wildlife monitoring, tracking, and non-invasive research, helping collect valuable data that informs responsible reserve management. Daily activities may also include habitat restoration projects such as erosion control and Spekboom planting, fence checks, and general land maintenance. You’ll gain insight into how a working reserve operates while living in a comfortable tented bush camp in a malaria-free region. With weekends free to explore the surrounding Garden Route and nearby towns, this experience offers a balance of hands-on conservation work, learning, and adventure in the African bush.
