I thoroughly enjoyed my internship

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship in Edinburgh. I am grateful for the opportunity and was pleased to find that all the managers would take my needs/complaints seriously and would adjust my schedule to best suit me. I enjoyed working at the bar and reception the most and was placed there for most of my time. I gained a lot of valuable experience and was able to see how each part of the company functioned. I was offered the to stay with the company for another month, as an employee, to experience and work during the festival. I am eager to continue working with them. I made many international friends, saw loads of beautiful places and experienced plenty of unforgettable memories.

I had such an incredible time while in Czech Republic! Everyone there was so kind and accepting to me! The volunteer work helped me see that with determination anything can happen! The city, the people, the atmosphere... I can’t begin to describe how much I will miss it.

It was my first time volunteering abroad and I honestly didn't know what to expect. I haven't heard about GoEco before but after my stay in Prague I can highly recommend this organization. I had a blast during my internship and I enjoyed every minute of it. I met so many wonderful people from all over the world, I learned about hospitality industry and I had a chance to discover Prague which is a beautiful city. I'm already planning to volunteer with GoEco again next summer and I can't wait for it!

Working in the Yellow Hostel was great. You work 5 days a week and then you are free to do whatever you want on your days off. The atmosphere in the hostel is really nice, all the workers are really friendly and most days were really relaxed. It can get quite busy behind the bar at night but thats to be expected! You are assigned new jobs every few days, anything from working behind the bar to escorting people to their rooms. We got to see nearly everything worth seeing in Rome. One of the workers at the hostel also worked as a tour guide and he would give guests and workers night tours of Rome free of charge which was awesome, all you had to do was promise to bring a few beers along. We also got to travel a lot in our free time, we got to see the areas surrounding Rome such as Tivoli. While we were in Tivoli we visited Adrian's Villa which was a great experience. Everyone that works at the Yellow is really friendly and I came away with a lot of new friends. I would recommend this trip to anyone that wants to meet new friends and have a great time doing it!

Freedom, Intensity, Wildeness, Peaceful...this is the Hai Bar Natural Reserve

I didn't know that I was going to find so much when I was leaving to Israel, to the Hai Bar Natural Reserve. I didn't know that I was going to meet an amazing country, beautiful land so varied from Tel Aviv which is a modern, young city to Jerusalem a cultural old city full of interesting cultures and different religions. After few days around the big cities I left from Jerusalem to the Hai Bar Natural Reserve and from that day was an other story. I think is was something like a love story. I suddently arrived in the middle of the Arava Desert, but still half an hour from Eilat and of course from the Red Sea, so it was a strategic place. Every morning I woke up before the sunrise, around 5 a.m. to be ready to work with a cool whether, not too hot as it's august in Israel. Day by day I started to learn how to work with the animal, how to feed them, cleaning their cages, check if everything was in right place. I was always with some Rangers so I learnt from them and I was never on my own. We work with many different kind of animals from turtles, mice, beds to leopards, ienas, wolfs and the animals in the safari like orix, ostrich and many others. I met very friendly and motiveted volunteers from other countries and we had an amazing time and a lot of fun. I could write a lot about my great experience in this program but I would like only to say that the Hai Bar and Eilat is a place where you can THINK about yourself, you can BE yourself, be WILD, you LEARN a lot and for the last but not least you can have so much FUN.

Beautiful Gem of a City

I recently returned from a 10 week stent in Porto through GoEco. It was my first time traveling abroad, as well as alone. My expectation about the program was simply to go and see a new part of the world and I came back with friends that feel much more like family. The program itself was wonderful. The staff became my friends and were very nice, generous, and helpful. I help out mostly at the bar at night and got to meet some of the most amazing guests from all over the world. Some mornings I would help with the continental breakfast and wind up spending most of the rest of the day with a person or people I had just met over their morning cup of coffee. I had plenty of time to explore the city alone, with some local friends I had made, and fellow travelers passing through. I felt completely at home and was incredibly sad to leave.

A crazy 6 weeks in Rome

When signing up for the 6 weeks in Rome, I was not sure what the program would expect of me. It ended up being one of the best workouts of my life. My job was to escort guests to their rooms since there were various sections to the hostel. Often this meant putting them in the elevator and running up the stairs to meet them! Along the way we discussed the usual travel questions (Where are you from? How long are you traveling? How long are you in Rome?) But I found that meeting these people is what made the experience so amazing. There are so many stories that inspire one to travel even more. Not to mention, the staff at The Yellow is absolutely amazing and you feel like you are in a small family. The things you are able to learn about Rome make it feel like home for 6 weeks. This is a project I would suggest to anyone!

Didn't Want to Leave!

I volunteered at Porto Spot Hostel for 7 weeks in January/February 2014, and it was a great experience. I definitely would've stayed much longer if I could have! I was really able to break out of my shell and become more outgoing and confident. I've travelled to many European cities, and I would say Porto is one of my favourites. The atmosphere of the city, as well as the hostel is very warm and welcoming. The Portuguese are some of the kindest people I've met. The work at the hostel is as fun as you make it and the staff are absolutely fantastic. There's always so much going on, with people coming and going, you've got to be able to adapt easily to new situations. I've met so many wonderful people from all over and I'll never forget the memories I made in Porto. It's been about 3 weeks since I left, and all I can think about is how much I want to go back!
