Awesome experience!

My personal experience was absolutely incredible, to say the least. I found joy in every single aspect of my journey. I am very thankful for the staff at the program for being so helpful with my Spanish. I am also very pleased with my first host-family experience, and I am looking forward to participating in more international volunteer projects that model this one. I enjoyed being able to work directly with employees and beneficiaries. I was not discriminated against for being a volunteer; however, quite the opposite occurred. I was trusted with some major projects for the organization, and it was my honor to have demonstrated my best efforts throughout my assignments.

Such a beautiful country and such a great way to see it. My time there exceeded my expectations and provided me with a cultural experience that one can't get as a tourist. I felt like a contributing member of society there and living with a host family only made it better. Everything went smoothly, right from my first email inquiry, to booking the trip, to arriving and being met at the airport, being welcomed by my host family with open arms and oriented to the city and program. I was able to improve my spanish skills the first week and then volunteered at a children's education program for the next three weeks. The times weren't demanding and I was able to explore San Jose in the afternoons, and the country on the weekends. Assistance with booking travel and accommodations for weekend travel was provided. It was an experience I won't forget and will definitely be doing something similar in future.

This project aims to send volunteers into these communities to help them achieve their goals. There are a variety of projects in different fields volunteers can choose from such as helping with women’s issues, child welfare, health care or education. The internship provides volunteers with a practical and professional experience needed for a career in social work or a similar field. To make sure that participants are meeting their goals there will be bi-weekly meetings with a supervisor and a final evaluation of their performance. This project highly encourages interns to have an intermediate level of Spanish to help enhance their int...
