international business graduate

August 01, 2026by: Felix Renault - France

I graduated in international business from Lyon and wanted real experience in Asia. GAC placed me with a logistics company in Shanghai's Pudong district. I worked on real projects – analyzing supply chains, negotiating with suppliers, and presenting to clients. My mentor taught me how Chinese business culture works – fast, direct, and relationship-driven. The team handled my visa, found me a great apartment, and checked in regularly. Three months later, I returned to France with a job offer. Best decision I ever made.

As an economics graduate from Malaysia, I wanted international experience but didn't know where to start. GAC matched me with a consulting firm in Beijing's central business district. Within two weeks, I was helping analyze market entry strategies for Southeast Asian clients. My colleagues were welcoming, and my mentor still checks in on LinkedIn. The team arranged my visa, apartment near the subway, and even taught me how to use WeChat like a local. The weekly Mandarin lessons were basic but super helpful for daily life. Three months later, I landed a role in international trade back in Kuala Lumpur — and my China experience was the deciding factor. Highly recommend for any Southeast Asian student wanting to stand out.

I joined GAC's Career Launch program as a mid-career engineer and it was a great shift from my usual routine. They placed me with a clean energy startup in Shenzhen where I worked on battery storage projects. The team was young, ambitious, and I got to contribute to real technical discussions from week one. Coming from a structured Norwegian work culture, the pace in China was different but in a good way—fast decisions, lots of collaboration, and genuine curiosity about my experience. Thank you so much for the experience!

Interning at a fortune 500 company in shanghai blew me away like really it did. Instead of grabbing coffee, waling around the office, laughing and setting I jumped right into real marketing campaigns. my mentor didn’t let me hide in the background either or as always just grab a coffee and sit somewhere—they had me present straight to clients. Terrifying at first, but honestly, it was incredible. The GAC team took care of everything—visa, apartment, even some survival Mandarin lessons. I met friends from all over the globe. Three months later, I’ve got job offers and a totally new outlook. Every second was worth spending there and the cultural tour was amazing, sharing a moment here with you.

As a third year politics student and a heritage with going to China and exploring it's culture and working environment i was really impressed by that, ok on social media we were seeing the face of china that we usually see, but if you get into it internally you'll see what's actually going on. I think I want to be diplomat in the China to experience real politics and international relations. I was placed in such a perfect place where I learned more things perfectly and thanks to my program provider, we have a whole video recorded along the way uploaded to my channel and it had more engagement.

I arrived in Shanghai with a suitcase and a spreadsheet of expectations; I left with a professional toolkit I now use daily. My internship in the finance division of a Fortune 500 corporation was substantive from week one—I was analyzing real market data and contributing to client reports, not fetching coffee. Go Abroad China removed every logistical barrier imaginable, from the complex visa process to securing a comfortable apartment, which allowed me to channel all my energy into the work and the culture. The balance was perfect: high-level professional exposure by day, and the vibrant, humbling adventure of navigating life in China by night. This experience was a career catalyst, providing not just a line on my resume, but the confidence and cross-cultural competence to operate on a global stage.

My internship in Shanghai was not an entry in a ledger; it was a strategic

December 27, 2025by: Caspian Thorne - United Arab Emirates

My internship in Shanghai was not an entry in a ledger; it was a strategic deployment into the heart of global commerce. GAC functioned as mission control, expertly neutralizing every logistical variable—visa, housing, regulatory navigation—so I could operate at full capacity within a Fortune 500 fintech firm. The role was substantive, placing me on projects with measurable impact on the APAC market. The true education, however, was in the synthesis: applying boardroom analytics by day and street-level cultural intelligence by night. This experience didn't just add a line to my resume; it installed a new operating system for professional ambition, one where borders are parameters to be understood, not limits to be accepted.

My internship at a Fortune 500 firm in Shanghai was less a professional stepping stone and more a controlled launch sequence. GAC engineered the platform—handling the complex physics of visas, housing, and cultural transition with flawless precision—so I could focus entirely on the mission: performing at the highest level in a global corporate arena. The experience was an intensive fusion of high-stakes business strategy and deep cultural syntax, where boardroom Mandarin and market analytics became second nature. This wasn't an international experience added to my resume; it was a complete recalibration of my professional operating system. For those who measure opportunity in terms of transformational ROI, this program is the benchmark.

December 11, 2025by: Maya Chen - Canada

I walked into a Shanghai skyscraper as a student and walked out months later as a professional with a global toolkit. My internship at a Fortune 500 finance firm was a deep dive into real-world strategy—no coffee runs, just spreadsheets, client briefs, and contributions that mattered. What GAC facilitated wasn't just a placement; it was a seamless launchpad. They handled the daunting logistics—visa, housing, local registration—so I could focus on thriving, not just surviving. Between boardroom meetings and team dinners, I explored wet markets, made friends from five continents, and discovered a version of myself that was adaptable, confident, and ready for a borderless career. This wasn't just an internship; it was a career-defining upgrade.

I arrived in Shanghai with a suitcase full of expectations, but nothing could have prepared me for the whirlwind of growth that awaited. My internship at a Fortune 500 tech company wasn't just about fetching coffee—I was coding alongside industry veterans, contributing to projects that reached millions. The GAC team became my anchor in this exhilarating chaos, guiding me through everything from visa paperwork to understanding subtle workplace customs. Between brainstorming sessions and client meetings, I discovered hidden tea houses, bonded with other interns over spicy hot pot, and even learned to bargain in Mandarin at local markets. This experience didn't just pad my resume—it rewired my understanding of what I'm capable of, giving me the courage to pursue opportunities I once would have thought were beyond my reach.

They packed my suitcase with phrasebooks and worries

November 10, 2025by: Indigo Lee - United States

They packed my suitcase with phrasebooks and worries, but what I actually needed was empty space - for the silk scarves my host grandmother would teach me to fold, for the handwritten notes from new friends, for the impossible weight of the Great Wall's stones. My summer in Beijing unfolded like a reverse origami: starting as a neatly folded tourist and ending as this beautifully crumpled, expanded version of myself. The Mandarin classes became our secret code, the subway system our playground, and the street food vendors our culinary professors. I didn't just learn about China - I learned how to become a citizen of the world, one character stroke and one shared laugh at my pronunciation mistakes at a time.

Solid Program with Real Immersion — A Great Way to Learn Mandarin

The program provided exactly what I was looking for — a real chance to improve my Chinese in an immersive environment. The university classes were high-quality, and the homestay gave me daily exposure to the language and culture. My host family was kind and welcoming, and I picked up useful expressions just from conversations at the dinner table. The weekend trips and cultural events were also well-organized and added a lot of fun to the experience. My only suggestion would be to offer a bit more flexibility in class schedules or options for students at different levels. Still, overall, this was a rewarding and unforgettable experience that significantly boosted my language skills.

The internship placement itself was decent—I was assigned to a reputable company and got to observe how things work in a real business setting. It was a unique chance to experience corporate life in China and gain international exposure. However, the program support could be improved. Communication before arrival was slow, and once I was in China, it sometimes felt like I was figuring things out on my own. The housing was basic and not quite as described. I also wish there had been more structured networking or mentorship opportunities. Overall, it’s a solid opportunity for gaining experience, but better organization and more consistent support would make it a truly great program.

When I first signed up for the paid internship in a Fortune 500 company in China through GoAbroadChina, I was filled with nerves and doubts. I questioned whether it was truly the right decision, especially since I wasn’t sure how I’d adjust to working in a foreign environment. However, from the very first day, the experience started to turn around. The support from GoAbroadChina and the company itself helped me ease into the role, and soon I was working on exciting projects that pushed me to grow professionally. The team was incredibly welcoming, and I felt like I was genuinely contributing to meaningful work. As the internship went on, my confidence grew, and I saw tangible results from the skills I was developing. By the time it ended, I was completely satisfied with what I had accomplished, both personally and professionally. Looking back, I’m so grateful I took the leap—this internship truly exceeded all of my expectations.

Get a better understanding of the world

November 26, 2024by: Andre A - Italy

Hi I am Andre I from Initially, the reason I came to China was just to get a better feel for what the world is like. By that, I mean most people, even if they go overseas, tend to go to places similar to their own. Being from America, Europe is actually very similar to America in many ways. So, I came to China to experience a different culture and see different things, just to get a better understanding of the world. Most people think the world is simply about their hometown or cities, but it's much bigger and broader, with much more to offer than what we see on TV or from our own doorstep. Being here allows me to immerse myself in a different culture and interact with different people. It helps me pick up different traits and become a better person. Additionally, I'm here to get a better understanding of business because I'm a marketing major. I'm working with a marketing team during my internship, which is helping me improve and gain a broad perspective on global business. This experience aligns with my career path in international business. One thing to note about China is that if you're not from here, people might stare at you. It's just curiosity, as many people come from rural or smaller parts of China. You just have to get used to it, and it'll be okay. As for me, I do like it here. Initially, there was culture shock, but once you get used to it and explore, you'll see the inner workings of Beijing beyond the initial impressions. Beijing is more diverse than I thought. I've met people from Europe, Africa, and various other places. They all have different stories, but they're all great people. Lastly, I would definitely recommend Go Abroad China to others. In a country like this, where it's strict and different from what I'm used to, having someone at your back is crucial. They've been supportive and have helped me have the experience I've had. It's all about connections, and without them, I wouldn't have had the same experience. That's why I recommend it

My name is Yann Garrett. I'm from France, I'm studying engineering, specifically construction and sustainable engineering. My career goal is to be an engineer working as a technical and as a manager. So I came to China through GoabroadChina to find relevant internship projects and increase my experience. I've been working with the company named PG City. This was a very good experience, and yet the boss is very cool. My colleagues are very cool, and the work inside is very interesting. I've been working as a designer, it was pretty interesting. I also made some research on China. I actually got to know some of China's culture with this company, like how the government works, and this is quite interesting. I've been to lots of places in Beijing, like the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and the Summer Palace, etc. The first week was difficult, but then I met some people, and the social network became very large. I know a lot of people, and I used to go with them to some events or go to places. When we consider further services with GoAbroadChina in the future, it's a very good opportunity to move to China, definitely.

Hello, I'm Fabiola from Italy. I've been in China for 10 months for an internship program with Go Abroad China. Initially, I came to China because I had graduated in Chinese and wanted to improve my language skills. That's why I came here with the goal of learning Chinese, which China provides ample opportunities for, not only for language learning but also for work. In fact, I'm an intern working as a journalist at BQ. The best experiences I've had in China were when my articles were published for the first time. It allowed me to experience the real Chinese culture and interact with the locals, as I live with a host family. Living with Chinese people has provided me with invaluable experiences and learnings. Overall, it has been a very positive experience, and I would highly recommend Go Abroad China to anyone. I have tutoring classes for three hours every two days, and my Chinese teacher is fantastic. Go Abroad China is very attentive and responsive; they genuinely care about their participants. Whenever I've had a problem or needed assistance, they've been there for me promptly. In conclusion, I hope many people will consider this program because it offers a very enriching experience.

Hello,I am From Italy, Joined GoAbroadChina internship in China program with the Homestay in Shanghai in 2024. I decided to come to China to improve my Chinese and enter the world of work. So, I decided to rely on GoAbroadChina agency to facilitate this two-month experience in Shanghai. I stayed with a host family, and I can say it was a beautiful experience. From day one, Nicole and her family treated me like a daughter. I also completed an internship at a company and learned a lot about work. In addition, GoAbroadChina organized Chinese lessons for me on Saturday afternoons with a really good teacher who was very professional. She encouraged us to talk as much as possible. I believe this experience will be remembered forever in my life, and I would like to do it again. I simply want to say thank you to GoAbroadChina agency.

Hello, my name is James Remington. For the past 2 months, I have been studying in China, utilizing the services provided by GoAbroadChina, and it has been an absolutely wonderful experience. Currently, I am recording from the Shanghai Botanical Garden, a lovely garden situated a bit on the outskirts of the city. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards GoAbroadChina and the amazing services they offer. Firstly, my accommodations and homestay experience have been phenomenal. The family I have stayed with has become more than just hosts; I consider them to be very dear personal friends. Saying goodbye to them will be bittersweet. Regarding the internship aspect, it has been a truly enriching experience to immerse myself in the Chinese working culture. I interned with a law firm and have not only formed great personal friendships but also established valuable professional connections with the partners, associates, and fellow interns. I cannot emphasize enough how highly I recommend this service. It has been very convenient to integrate into Chinese culture and language, and I now consider myself much more knowledgeable about both than when I first arrived in China. This is largely thanks to the wonderful services provided by GoAbroadChina.

I'm from the USA and I'm currently here in Shanghai for 3 months for an internship as well as individual Chinese lessons . I came here through GoAbroadChina and they were really helpful with the whole process they helped me find a company that was because I'm not super fluent in mandarin so they helped me find a company that was based internationally and had a firm here, so they were really accommodating for that and it's also helping me a lot with my Chinese being able to kind of communicate a little bit in English too. They also help me find my individual lessons which was really helpful , the teacher is super nice . she caters towards your needs so some of my goals include being able to speak daily with my family members as well as with like locals so that's been really helpful and then they've also been um really helpful just with getting me settle in so picking me up from the airport making sure that I knew my way around and just having someone there constantly if you need help just to message or if you have any simple questions is so much better than just kind of throwing yourself out there and not knowing anything so um that was really helpful.

Hello this is Fadu, and my recent immersion into Chinese culture through the Go Abroad China program was a profound journey of self-discovery. Prior to embarking on this adventure, my perceptions of China were largely shaped by Western media narratives, offering a limited perspective of this vast and diverse nation. However, my experience shattered these preconceived notions, revealing the multifaceted tapestry of China's rich cultural heritage and the warmth of its people. Upon my arrival in Shenzhen, I was immediately struck by the city's vibrant energy and modern infrastructure, a testament to China's rapid development and innovation. This immersive experience not only expanded my skill set but also deepened my appreciation for the ingenuity and resilience of the Chinese workforce. Beyond the confines of the workplace, I found myself enchanted by the beauty of Chinese culture, from its intricate traditions to its sumptuous cuisine. Exploring Shenzhen's vibrant street markets and ancient temples, I reveled in the rich tapestry of sights, sounds, and flavors that define everyday life in China. Hi this is Fadu and I took part in the go abroad china program. Seeing China through the lens of Western Media makes you blind. China has a beautiful and warm culture with awesome people and above all, one of the safest countries of our time. For several reasons, my trip to China was a dream come true. I have learned Mandarin before but has never made it to China. I speak reasonably good mandarin with a horrible accent- this also inspired my ambition to improve. Made many friends which made the experience more amazing.

Hi,I am Cathryn Masuda from University of California, USA. I joined 3 month internship program in China. GoAbrodChina internship program provides an opportunity to work with a leading foreign company, Evalueserve in China. Without GAC 's assistance along the way, finding the right employment in my relevant field would not have been that simple. Working for Evalueserve not only allowed me to carry out one of my greatest passions in life but simultaneously enriched me with the cultural experiences of working together with Chinese people. Through my colleagues and GAC staff, I have seen and learnt so much about China’s language, culture, habits, lifestyle and all this has helped me to better understand China. I was very fortunate to have this door of opportunity open to me. It was extremely useful to have the support of GoAbroadChina!

I used this program to find an architecture internship in Shanghai for the summer. A part of me always wanted to try working in China and experience it. GAC helped me set up interviews, making the process fast. The people at the company were great, and I'll forever cherish the memories with them. I think one of the best things I did on the trip was a 2 day trip to Hangzhou to see all their amazing architecture. My coworkers had planned the trip before I joined the company but they invited me. It was an amazing experience, and I wish I could be back in the city. As a Chinese-American, I was initially scared about not speaking Chinese well in a new city, but this program enhanced my experience. I fell in love with Shanghai and its architecture!

My great China internship experience

China will never cease to amaze me. I’ve always been fascinated by the country, I had the opportunity to intern in Beijing. After spending some time here, I can confidently say that China has become one of my favorite countries, and an internship there was a great way to make this happen! It was everything I expected and more. My internship opened my eyes to a new culture, taught me valuable skills, and allowed me to make connections that I still value today. Here’s what you can expect if you’re thinking about an internship in China! Having just finished my second internship abroad, I can attest to how rewarding such an experience can be. In fact, it was pretty amazing—I saw amazing sights and met incredible people, all while immersing myself in a culture that’s so vastly different from my own. Most importantly, though, I developed a deeper appreciation for what it means to have purpose at work and even learned some new skills along the way.

I was considering an online internship abroad, as there are tons of fantastic opportunities out there to choose from! GoAbroadChina stands out as one of the best – in fact, it’s so good that I didn’t even have to look anywhere else. For me, the GoAbroadChina virtual internship program has been one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had! This program has given me some amazing work experience, this makes it possible for me to have an internet connection on my hands to gain experience and skills at home while also doing their part to support development in my online Chinese program, As well as giving me a chance to work with people all over China, it helps me build new relationships with people from other parts of Asia, Europe, and beyond. It’s really an excellent way to expand my horizons while also helping others get ahead! The possibilities are endless! I am more than willing to recommend this program to all of my friends.

Having earned a BA (Hons) in hospitality management, I decided to aim high. So I called up GAC and asked them, what about a paid hospitality internship? Am I qualified to apply their Internship program? I couldn’t believe my luck when they said they could arrange a hotel internship at a 5-star hotel in Beijing. This was just the opportunity I was looking for - I never dreamed I could work in China's capital city. I couldn’t speak the Chinese language but I couldn't miss out on this chance. I decided it was now or never. The team at GAC just said not to worry because I could learn Chinese, which was a great and funny experience, a month into my stay and I had more than picked up the basics. When you are living and breathing it, it comes to you. During the course of my six-month hospitality internship, I attended three language classes per week which help me so much so i can know some Chinese words and understand the Culture more.

During my Sales and Marketing Internship in Beijing, I worked as a key member of the marketing team alongside other sales interns and staff members from various countries around the world. This heightened the overall experience because we came from such different backgrounds and therefore contributed diverse ideas and perspectives. Social media is my specialty and I was able to contribute to an upcoming promotion by writing fresh content to appeal to the company’s target audience. My favorite part of my sales marketing internship was when I mentored with a Marketing Consultant and witnessed first-hand how she led her team to nurture and progress sales opportunities. What I Loved about Go Abroad China is that I still had enough time to travel around Beijing and explore the sights.

I worked alongside a senior architect!

Architecture is my passion. I was determined to experience an architecture internship abroad to gain experience in an international company. I was delighted to discover that Go Abroad China could help me with an architecture internship in China. Speaking to me on the phone, an adviser informed me of my various options and answered my questions. She told me how to apply for an architecture internship at a company in Wanda . It wasn’t long before I was back on the phone to them asking them to help me arrange my flights and accommodation. During my internship, I was able to witness a senior architect at work developing the construction details of a major project, checking for code compliance and coordinating with consultants and contractors. This is exactly the kind of work I am interested in. Since I can add this experience to my resume, I am one step closer to securing the job of my dreams. My internship led to a paid architecture internship and I was able to visit Xi’an and see the Emperor Qin’s Mausoleum and his Terracotta Army. Fabulous experience.

I applied for a legal internship with Go Abroad China because I had decided to focus on gaining an understanding of Chinese law, specifically in relation to foreign direct investment and contract law. GAC found the right firm for me that specialized in international law and trade law. Working as an intern at a Chinese law firm, I gained experience in commercial law and how contracts differ from country to country and an understanding of case management, legal research and even financial regulations as they pertained to client cases. The entire experience was an eye-opener and I have come away with a well-rounded, global resume that I can present with a strong sense of pride. Thank you, Go Abroad China, for showing me all that I can look forward to, professionally and personally!

Internet usage is unprecedented and with global companies outsourcing IT to China, I see a realm of possibilities for career prospects. My area of expertise lies in web development and software engineering. GAC informed me of an IT internship at a company based in Beijing and since I’ve always wanted to see The Forbidden City and The Great Wall of China, I jumped at the chance. My internship as a web designer involved working with a highly skilled mix of people involved in improving UX design. The best bit of the program for me was the dinner get-togethers GAC told me about. This is where the GAC interns met up over dinner. I was nervous about trying some dishes so this was a great way for me to venture out of my comfort zone in the comfort of like-minded individuals.

Networking events were essential for me; the program didn’t disappoint!

Go Abroad China arranged for me to work at an international trade company in Shanghai where I could develop my focus on the export of Chinese manufactured goods and the associated regulations. Networking opportunities were crucial for me as my aim was to make contacts that would enable me to develop a career in this area. At the same time as fulfilling the duties required with my international trade administration internship, I was able to attend Mandarin classes at Beijing language and culture university and attend social events organized by Go Abroad China. I came away from my internship with an in-depth knowledge of international trade and sales, connections with potentially influential individuals, and a greatly enhanced CV, which places me exactly where I need to be for the next step in my career.

I was excited to be offered a Human Resources Internship in Hangzhou because I had learned about the challenges faced by Chinese businesses when it comes to attracting and retaining skilled employees. This is very much an area of work I am interested in and it was an extremely rewarding experience. From working on the administrative aspects of job postings and candidate recruitment to attending workshops, seminars and training events focused on hiring, I pretty much saw and experienced all aspects of a global HR department in a couple of months. Besides such incredible work experience, I got free time on the weekends to travel around Hangzhou and attend the social events that were organized by Go Abroad China. The cost of the excursions was taken care of so all I needed to do was choose the ones I was interested in and get on with enjoying making new friends, all of whom were in the same situation as me.

Placed at an international hotel in Shanghai where I worked on reception with a team of experienced staff. Shanghai - Wow! A city that never sleeps. Clubs and bars are buzzing, trendy nightspots, international DJs, professional bartenders, amazing restaurants with breathtaking views of the City - Shanghai has got it all. Thoroughly enjoyed learning how the hotel’s booking system worked and watching the experts at work. Duties included greeting guests which really brought my language skills on! Communicated with other teams around the hotel such as housekeeping, restaurant staff, maintenance, marketing, finance, and accounts. Would recommend GAC to anyone looking for a hospitality internship abroad. It can even lead to paid hospitality internships if you are interested in staying on longer.

I had a strong desire to work in China to enhance my future job prospects, but it was important to me that I could experience the beauty and nature of the country as well as its vibrant cities. I spoke to a representative at Go Abroad China and they suggested Hangzhou, a city renowned for its enchanting scenery and rich cultural heritage. I was told that Hangzhou is one of China’s most popular travel destinations and I soon learned why. West Lake is a breathtakingly beautiful spot with willow-lined banks, mist-covered hills, pavilions, arched bridges and a little island that you can only reach by boat. During my Fashion design Internship, I have loved exploring the temples, shrines, and pagodas, and sampling the delicious Zhejiang cuisine. My particular favorite is the tender West Lake fish served in the vinegar-based Sweet Sour Sauce. Delicious!

I finally got the chance to travel to Shanghai last year and I really had so much fun. I was able to gain more knowledge in my field and learn from the best. GAC picked me up from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport and drove me straight to my accomodation and made sure I had everything needed. The next day Gina, arrived early in the morning to give me my train pass and directed me around the lovely city. At my internship, I was given the perfect amount of responsibility, especially towards the end of my placement, I was always busy. I presented to the multiple employees which advanced multiple skills which allowed me to be pushed and excel within my placement year. And mostly I enjoyed the weekend outings and activities organised during the weekend by GAC.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. My team were very good in giving me work and making me feel like part of the team. it has provided me with knowledge and skills which I can take forward with mw to future roles. The culture of the organisation is great and the people you get to meet and work with are also very friendly. I felt very valued by my colleagues. Interns may initially feel as though they are "just interns" and so don't have a lot to offer. My team made sure that wasn't the case and allowed me to showcase what I had to offer. They allowed me to make a contribution to the team. My manager was very supportive. Although he wasn't always around which is not unexpected as he is quite busy, we had weekly one to one meetings where we would review what has happened over the past week. We would address any issues that need to be addressed and plan how things will be in the following week.

I was in my placement year, searching vigorously for an internship in my career field in law before the deadline. I had applied to several companies in Birmingham UK but wasn’t being successful in my search. Then one day while searching for internship opportunities online, l found an internship post advertising an legal internship in Beijing China. I wasn’t sure certain, but the I was really attracted to the opportunity to actually do an internship in China and so I sent in my CV and waited. While I waited I was constantly on the their website trying to do some research and gain more insight about the company. After a while I received an email from GAC and was really excited. They informed me they had accepted my application and explained they had numerous legal and law internship positions available in China and assured me I would be able to get a position before the deadline of my placement year application date. I was so excited about the opportunity to complete my internship year in China. Above all, the opportunity to actually travel to China excited me greatly as I had never travelled that far before. Over the couple days, I discussed with my parents and university about my internship and commenced my application for an internship in China. I was really skeptical at first about everything. I extremely researched their website, checking for reviews and looking for and speaking with former participants of their programs. I also contacted their competitors looking for other companies that offered the same services. Finally I chose GAC as think they have the best package, I was really excited about the programs they offered and after they discussed directly with my parents and I confirmed from several students from other universities in Birmingham, I was convinced enough. Though I had little knowledge about China, I chose Beijing because, based on my initial thoughts and conceptions about China (ninjas and kungfu), I felt I would be able to experience the Chinese history culture more compared to Shanghai which was more modernised from what I had heard. I did so much research about Beijing and was really excited to visit the tourist destinations I found, like the Tianmen Square and Forbidden City. In addition, the company that offered my an internship was also situated in Beijing and so this influenced my decision greatly. Also after discussing with GAC, they informed me Beijing was more than I had imagined (few ninjas and kungfu) and was also as modernised as Shanghai. I also loved my accommodation, which was well furnished, had great views and was situated close to my internship and school and I was able to make lots of goods friends too during my stay. I stayed in a student accommodation during my stay. Though a separate university owned student accommodation, it was the best accommodation in my opinion, I really enjoyed my stay. The staffs were really friendly and nice. They would assist me when I wanted to order food, due to the communication issue. They were really supportive, even the hard working cleaners at the accommodation. I stayed in a shared accommodation, sharing with a good friend. The rooms were well furnished, with a heater, a air cooler, bathroom and toilet, study desk, TV and other basic amenities. We shared a big kitchen and had access to laundry machines. It also had a study room, gyms and table tennis room and all bills were inclusive. The accommodation was in a great location, close to a Wal-Mart shopping mall and about 20mins by train to my university and about 30mins to my internship company. GAC gave me lots of support. When I arrived in Beijing, I was so nervous, I was in a different place. They picked me up from the airport, helped me feel comfortable, explained everything about my program, how it would be arranged. They updated me on my internship company, Vericant and about my Chinese school, Peking University. Once we arrived at my accommodation, they ensured I had the room of my choice and took care of registrations and tidbits. The next day someone arrived to guide me to my internship company, Vericant. They showed me how to make use of my rail card, how to top up and the best routes to get there. When we arrived, they introduced me in person to my employer and I was settled. The next day, they arrived to guide me to my Chinese school, they showed me how to get to my school, made sure I had all the text books I needed, I got my id card and was a registered student. An average day for me was either spent at school or at my internship. My internship company were really understanding and supportive, so I was assigned 4 days to work, Monday – Thursday, though I closed at different times each day to attend my classes at Peking University. I would work from 9:00 – 5:00 at my internship company and attend my classes from 6:00-7/8:00pm, Monday – Thursday while on Friday, which was my day off, I only attended my classes at Peking University. My tasks at my internship were assigned to me the previous week, so I had all week to complete the various tasks I was given before the deadline. This allowed me structure and plans my time to be able to multi task, completing my internship work while also attending classes. The classes were really well and organised and structured at Peking. My classes were usually 3 hours long each day, were we mostly practised out oral mandarin speaking and character writing skills on Tuesday, Chinese business and economy on Wednesday, were we studied about Chinese business practises and Chinese History on Thursday and Friday. The classes were engaging and fun and we were assessed by presentations and exams at the end of our semester. Outside of the classroom, I looked forward to each weekend activity organised by GAC. Also, Peking University also organised great trips to various destinations in Beijing. There was always something to do or an event to attend each weekend. I also enjoyed attending professional networking events planned by my internship company, Vericant. One of my most fond memorable trips was travelling to Zhangjiajie to see the Avatar Mountain where Avatar the movie was shot. Taking a 6 hours train journey from Beijing to Zhanjiajie was one of the highlights of my journey. In addition, I spent most of my free times visiting the cinema, shopping and playing table tennis with my friends at my accommodation. I really cant think of anything that I would want to change during my stay, I had a lot of fun, travelled and experienced a lot though I wish I had done more traveling while in China. I was able to visit the famous Avatar Mountain in Zhangjaijie, which was so awesome and visit other cities during my stay. I wish I could have visited more, there’s still so much to see in China. My time in China has really benefitted me greatly. Apart from the professional development and boost to my CV I have gained through my internship experience. I have made great really great friends, travelled to really beautiful sites and places in China and my confidence level has really increased. I would definitely recommend this program. I still plan on visiting China again sometime in the future, there’s still so much I would like to do and see.

Internship in Beijing

My name is Wesley. I first came to China for the language specifically and got the chance to go to Peking University and study for half a year. I am now currently interning at Vericant, in Beijing China, an IT company focused on carrying out video assessments for Chinese students applying to study abroad. Applying through GAC was the best decision I made while searching for an internship in China. They arranged everything, from finding my perfect internship company to providing a great accomodation for me and much more. They have really been supportive and have always been available to assist me whenever i encountered any difficulties. After staying in Beijing for 4 weeks, I have come to love the culture, the people and food. Beijing is so rich in history and adventure. Before I end my internship in december, I hope to explore more of China and be more amazed by this beautiful country. In conclusion, I have had the best experience so far in China and would definitely love to return sometime in the future. I will be going back to the UK once my internship is done to continue with my university course. For now though, there is still much more to learn about Beijing especially on the weekends since I'm off work. I still practise my Chinese everyday, and I have really come to enjoy my time here the more I get used to it.

cheers!

Internship in business sector: Beijing

Enrolling with Go Abroad China in the internship program was a good experience for me, I joined a business & consulting firm in Beijing (I’m a business major) and got to work very quickly within days of arriving in China. For anyone coming to China, don’t be surprised at the work hours, they are different from many countries from what I have noticed. But coming from the view that I wanted to learn and had a strict number of weeks to complete an internship, it helped me a lot. I applied probably a month before I wanted to start the internship and they were able to get me a position relatively quickly. On their part, I think there was an even/dinner with everyone that applied through GAC per month so I got attend two of those. Communication was relatively easy with GAC, we communicated largely through email and skype here and there. It was my first time in Beijing city and I liked it with its loudness and had many more foreigners than I imagined.

Business internship in Beijing

My name is Veronica, I did a business internship in Beijing last summer and really had a good experience there. The business dealt with exports and supplies and my roles included helping maintain records of goods, ensuring with my boss which products are meant to leave and what time etc. After that usually I would need to write a report. I interned for only a month, and it just flew by very quickly. I contacted Go Abroad China to help me with this internship placement, keeping in mind my budget and other needs which included a place to live. They also helped me get introduced to the company right in Beijing and once on the weekend joined everyone for a trip to Beijing's Forbidden City. Generally speaking everything went smoothly and I got good treatment, I wish though I had the means to have been able to extend by a couple more weeks. But living in Beijing for that time was great, I enjoyed the city especially during my spare time during the weekends. One thing you need to be aware of is that the internship most times is like full time work. You check in like everybody else for around eight hours per day.

Hospitality internship

I did my internship in Guangzhou in the south of China, I worked mostly at the front desk and attending to the needs of guests. Working at a hotel is great but you need to be fast, very organised and always look happy. At the front desk I was always with two other ladies to attend to queries, make sure guests get their appropriate rooms, book conference spaces and sometimes when there are special dinners to make sure that their private dining rooms are well prepared. I loved my job, the city of Guangzhou was crowded, noisy but interesting to live and work in. During my free time I usually hung out with my colleagues who showed me great shopping and eating spots. I also managed to pick up some Chinese while I was down there, although being back at home I hardly ever use it. I was fortunate enough that I am fluent in English and Spanish, which was great for my job. Writing this report, I will mention that I went through Go Abroad China, and what was really great is that the hotel provided accommodation onsite - okay it wasn't a hotel suite but a dorm where some other ladies also lived but it was alright.

Good internship in business

For the internship program, I was living with a Chinese family in Beijing. Their neighborhood was actually really nice and close to the subway station, which was really convenient because I took the subway everyday to work. As for the internship, it was good, they assigned me a partner at work and a lot of our duties were finding new clients for the company, then doing work to increase sales. My coworkers were helpful, the company also helped me extend my visa because I ended wanting to stay longer and they allowed me. I contacted Go Abroad China pretty quickly after I discovered them via the internet. They offered a really affordable program as budget was one of my concerns with an internship outside of my country. In Beijing, their staff took us to the GreatWall, we explored the city center a couple of times and generally it was okay.

My name is Daniela, I study tourism and hospitality management and I am in China for a whole year doing an internship in hospitality as part of my course (it requires spending a year in the field). I am interning at Millennium Hotel, which is part of the famous Millennium and Copthorne Hotel chains popular in North and South America. I am in the city of Wuxi, in southeastern China, less than an hour from the city of Shanghai. My position is a Guest Relations Officer, and I get to supervise and work together with the front desk everyday, I also ensure the satisfaction of the guests that I am responsible for, I handled logistics of hiring out conference rooms for workshops, meetings and other things that people can book for. I like dealing with people and customers so I enjoy my job. I am really happy that Go Abroad China was able to organise such a great internship for me, I am learning so much from my time here! I thought the ladies who were helping me were really friendly and helped me a lot before I got interviewed by my supervisor. I look forward to going back home and graduating from college.

Internship in Beijing in a public relations firm

The few months I spent in China were really rewarding, I learnt a lot about the culture, spring festival, Ming Tombs and exploring Beijing. It was my first time in Beijing, I found it very exciting, loud, it never sleeps and very cosmopolitan...well some parts anyway. I was interning at a Public Relations company and learnt a lot, especially what strategies are generally good to use if you are doing public relations and have other companies as clients. I also realised how tough it is to work under pressure sometimes but overall I felt like it was a good internship. I also had some Chinese classes too and currently I am at level 2, for me that's good enough because I got around just fine. I lived in a small apartment in a Chinese area, but I preferred it this way because I still got my privacy and had lovely Chinese neighbours who were really friendly towards me.

Internship with a trade company

I got an internship through Go Abroad China; they are the ones that seemed to offer what I wanted close the budget I had. I worked for a trade company based in downtown Shanghai. Doing the work experience in Shanghai was great; my team was in charge of finding clients through emails, phone calls and doing presentations. I was also involved with a lot of research about how the trade industry works and where that company should be improving. China is quite crowded but the life in Shanghai is great, if I found a job there I wouldn’t hesitate to move there. I don’t really speak Chinese but it wasn’t a problem at work since I was not the only foreigner in the company, so English was easily spoken; plus plenty of Chinese in Shanghai actually speak English! Besides that I did have several times I went out to see the town and have fun too.

I initially discovered Go Abroad China simply because they were one of the few overseas agencies to offer an internship program in my discipline. After browsing their website for an hour or so it became apparent to me that Go Abroad China was an extremely professional organization that has a clear understanding of student needs. Then I proceeded to contact a representative of the company. All of my questions were promptly answered, and the process for applying for the internship program was clearly explained. A number of things contributed to making my internship such a fantastic experience. First of all, as I chose the home stay option, I was living with a Chinese family in a typical Beijing apartment. The family was very kind and provided assistance to me where they could. Secondly, the internship position itself and the company I worked for were excellent. For the first time since starting my studies I was able to get real-world, hands-on experience applying my knowledge, and I got to learn a lot of new stuff along the way. Thirdly, the other employees at my work were great people who really enriched my experience. I worked in an IT company to assist in Marketing campaigns from event organization through to PR, digital marketing and corporate hospitality. I learned lots of things that I never know in the school from this company. It is really a precious experience for me. I will never forget this experience.

I will recommend this program as it provides a very unique and rewarding experience, and is provided by a very professional and helpful organization. Choosing GAC for my internship has been an excellent decision, and I have not regretted it for a moment.

The best intern experience with Go Abroad China

My name is Nick. I'm from the US, I took a semester off of college at a private school in New York called the King's college to intern abroad with Go Abroad China. It's been a pleasure to work with the people of my internship company as well as being involved in the actual work they are doing. It's fascinating to see the business side of China and to compare them to the way things are in developed countries. And my Chinese class is absolutely helpful. I have 20 hours a month of Chinese tutoring. It's one and one and it's awesome because it allows me to ask the things I want and the teacher is able to focus on me exclusively rather than having to split time within me and other students. In addition to taking the classes, you will learn just from riding the subway, ordering food etc. My living accommodation has been the best part of me living in Beijing. I have an awesome roommate. He has made my experience in Beijing one I'll never forget. I haven’t had a lot of bad culture shock because I have set a strong community with people who look after me. I’m thankful for it. This experience will impact my future in so many ways. I've always been interested in working in China and I knew that I wanted to do business here in the future but having gained experience in the space I've had access to during my internship, I know that the network I've developed and the work experience I developed are going to come in handy in the future. Go abroad china's program coordinator Ada is been awesome, she picked me up from the airport, took me to my accommodation. After that she has been in touch with me by emails, see how things were going. And she frequently invites me out to lunches, see parks or museums in Beijing. Just today we went to an art zone which is really awesome, called 798. That's the coolest thing I've seen in Beijing. So if you are lucky enough to have Ada as your program coordinator, you are in for a treat. If you are interested in going abroad, Go abroad China is the company to go through.

I came to China for the Internship Program to improve professional prospects and also see interesting places. I spent 4 months working, engaging with cultural and everyday life in China. Overall experience was good, I felt like GAC program staff were very approachable and supportive. Especially I was impressed by email communication before I came to China. The handling of my Internship and other arrangements were quick and professional. I was also very satisfied with the company service during my stay. I’d definitely recommend GAC Internship Program to others!

I came to Beijing for 3 months Internship Program, because I wanted to study Chinese and to improve my career prospects. I was very satisfied with my experience and GAC assistance. Even though I was alone I knew that there was an organization behind me that could help with everything. The family I’ve been staying with was kind and helpful; they were open-minded so I didn’t have any troubles with them. The program itself was very fulfilling from many aspects: language studies, daily life, excursions and culture. My Chinese language teacher was absolutely great; she helped me a lot to learn more. Program coordinators were caring and always helped me. The greatest benefit that I’ve gained from GAC experience is the opportunity to find very good job and understand what my work career would be. I am independent now and I’ve learnt to live myself. I’ve left behind me all my fears that troubled me in the past.

My stay in Beijing has been really great! I participated in GAC program last summer. I thought the program offered what I was looking for: a way to improve my Chinese while experiencing China. The Chinese tutors were available flexibly to help with any language questions. My host mother Grace has been very very nice and patient with me, as well as GAC staff who has provided me with constant guidance and feedback! We often met up for dinners and other excursions, giving me the opportunities to converse and learn Chinese outside of the classroom. Before my program started in Beijing, GAC team was very responsive, making the process of getting to China and working, living in China much easier. Any problems came up were easily solved. I have to admit it is a great relief to know that I can call her anytime! In addition, the group dinners and trips organized by GAC were wonderful. I was very very pleased by the welcome, and I am very thankful to GAC staff. I love them!

Summer Internship in Beijing

I'm from Canada, studying engineering in the US and had finished my 2nd year. I joined Go Abroad China program in summer, 2010. I got put in a 3 bedroom apartment with two others locals who are a year or two older than I am. I have my own bedroom space and it's bigger than my dorm room. I lived 2 min away from the bus stop to my office so it's very convenient. It takes me 40-50min to get to work. My Chinese roommates are very nice people and we get along well. They don't speak much English but my Chinese is decent enough to get simple ideas across. We've never had a really long conversation about anything though.I also teach them English in the evenings. I have Chinese language classes for 4hrs every Saturday and most Sundays. I know Cantonese and a lot of the words are similar so basically it's like learning how to say words and commonly used phrases/conjunctions. However, if you have no prior knowledge at all, the Chinese language is ridiculously difficult to learn so in my opinion anything short of 1.5hours a day is too little to get even a grasp of the language. That's if you want to have a conversation instead of just responding to and asking simple questions. The Chinese classes with GAC would probably get you to simple question/response. That's the language's fault though. The teacher is nice and easy to talk and knows English but isn't fluent. I study mechanical engineering and requested some related company. I have never had a job/internship before and I had no clue what engineering consulting was so I didn’t' really have any expectations. I ended up at the company based in the UK with offices in Scotland, Beijing, Canada and very recently, US. They handle lots of reports and reviews and site visits related to renewable energy projects literally worldwide. China's largest resource is wind energy so I was dealing with mostly Wind energy. I've been assigned to do things that actually mattered so I am enjoying it. GAC coordinator is ridiculously helpful and reliable. Absolutely no concern here! Program Administration: GAC coordinator is ridiculously helpful and reliable.

It was definitely a great experience. The company I worked for was great, the work I did was fun, and all of my co-workers were friendly. The GAC Beijing Coordinators are excellent at their jobs, and very friendly. They are available practically 24/7 throughout your entire stay to help you with anything that might come up, and also to assist you in navigating the treacherous enigma that is life in Beijing. I personally stayed in a private apartment, but GAC is a very flexible program (this is what makes us unique) and so you can choose from a variety of options such as apartment, hotel, home stay, etc, and GAC will set it up for you. I also opted to take language training classes. My teacher was extremely friendly and a wonderful. Our sessions were everyday after work and we would generally go somewhere (restaurant, tea house, etc.) for each lesson. The lessons were very informal, generally me honing my Chinese through conversation and picking up new vocabulary and such as we visited various places in Beijing. Also, I had year of beginning Chinese in college prior to my first GAC trip, so I was somewhat prepared, although I had failed to review all summer and thus had forgotten a lot of vocabulary by the time I arrived. By simply living in Beijing (regardless of the tutor) your Chinese conversation skills and confidence will improve dramatically, just by virtue of interaction with people on a day to day basis. My trip last summer was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had! In fact, I will be returning to China for a second internship with GAC and I wholeheartedly recommend this program!

I had a fairly positive experience with GAC. I lived with young Chinese professional (no English) and studied 6 hours a day with a tutor provided by GAC. I would recommend it if you really plan to make progress in the language. Accommodation was comfortable, my apartment had small living room, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and kitchen. Neighborhood was definitely safe and China in general is very safe. GAC coordinators were very helpful and attentive. Do not hesitate to ask them to accommodate or help you. It’s great experience. The staff was helpful, young and very understanding. Also Beijing is the heart of China, so to be exposed to China, Beijing is the right place. Everything was perfect. It lives up to my expectations and more, so why not advice my friends to experience it?! Program coordinators’ service was pretty good. Whenever I asked for something I would get a quick response. Go Abroad china is a great program. I had many options to choose, and I really appreciated that. Overall it was a great program, one month was like a day. I made many friends. I am now considering to go back to study Chinese for a year!

Beijing Impression

Now it has been about five weeks since I arrived in Beijing, after what seemed like an eternity (but was actually I think like six months) of planning and correspondence with the ever glowing Zoe Wang from GAC Beijing via email, and already the city feels like home. I don’t exactly know how long I will be here; my current internship is over at the end of this (solar) year, but I have already had discussions with my current boss about the prospect of ongoing employment. It is ironic in a way that, coming to China with such a passion for so many aspects of Chinese culture; Calligraphy, Martial Arts and Philosophy just to name a few, that I have so far had less engagement with traditional Chinese culture here than I did in Australia. There has simply been so much to do here that I haven’t had the time to pursue these interests. But I have no doubt that in future I will find plenty of time to explore the intricate sophistication and eccentricities of the cultural artifacts from the worlds’ longest unified civilization. The staffs from GAC have been wonderfully supportive during my time here, and I think I have made some solid friendships from within the organization that will hopefully outlast the duration of my internship here in China. I can only hope that my experience of China and Beijing continues to be such a positive one. There are so many more things that I could say about this place, but I feel that maybe what is here should be enough of a taste to spark your imagination and inspire your own Chinese adventure.

Go Abroad China was everything I could as for in a company to take me on this journey. I travelled to Beijing for three months where I Interned in two business and studies the Chinese language. This company dealt with all issues professionally and efficiently and as long as I had my phone (issued by the company) I was never alone, I always someone I could talk too. I fully recommend GAC to any other student thinking of going to China.

This is what I would recommend if you really plan to make progress in the language. I couldn't tell the amount of money I spent per month but in China there's a huge range for personal spending. You can eat and drink with friends for $3 or $4 (and sometimes less) and leave very full. At the same time you could go to Western restaurants or clubs or bars and spent quite a bit more.

Go abroad China was exactly what I was looking for they tailored a program to my exact specifications and with in two weeks i was in China. It was a very impressive turn around. If I ever had any problems I had my personal rep to help me. I really do not have a bad word to say about this course. They really help you traverse the sometimes confusing landscape of working a studying in China. Living Situation: this is not applicable to me is I already had somewhere to stay but judging by the quality of the rest of the course I am sure it is an A+
