Rebuild a Home for Girls in India with Global Impact Homes

Join a life-changing Volunteer Build Week with Global Impact Homes and help construct homes for those in need. We currently offer Impact Builds in several destinations, including Puducherry, India; Zihuatanejo, Mexico; Granada, Nicaragua; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As a volunteer, you’ll participate in or lead a one-week build. You’ll collaborate with local communities, providing essential housing. At the same time, enjoy cultural immersion activities and foster connections with like-minded individuals. 

This rewarding experience includes all on-the-ground expenses, such as meals and travel medical insurance, allowing you to focus on making a lasting impact. Your participation will help uplift disadvantaged families, providing a safe and stable environment for generations to come.

We invite you to join us from 9 - 16 February in Puducherry, India, for our Impact Build 2025. 

We partner with an Indian NGO operating the Janani Home for Girls for this project. Young women, often abused or abandoned or saved from child labor, are housed at this building. They are given a safe space to learn and heal. As a volunteer, expect to help mix concrete, paint, and build with bricks or wood. We will do whatever is necessary to help provide these young women with a better opportunity to learn and live.

Our mission goes beyond bricks and mortar. We believe in showing the world the incredible generosity of our volunteers while immersing ourselves in diverse cultures. We focus on creating meaningful experiences, fostering connections, and building better homes and communities. We firmly believe that, at the end of the day, we are all more alike than different.

At the end of your week, expect a lot of happy tears as we reflect on the amazing experience that just took place.

Global Impact Homes, a US-based nonprofit, is partnering with a local nonprofit in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, called Chantiik. We will spend 8 nights together exploring one of Mexico's "Magical Pueblos" located in the Mexican Central highlands, with 5 days volunteering to rehabilitate homes and families in need. Founded in 1528, San Cristobal is now an international historic site. This team is limited to 14 volunteers (currently at 9), so we hope you'll consider joining us for a fantastic week of fun and work.

Your donation includes: 
- 8 nights lodging - double occupancy in a local hotel. Single rooms may be available for an additional fee.
- Three meals per day (alcohol not included)
- A donation towards construction materials and local labor
- All on-site tools, and plenty of water and snacks
- Travel medical insurance
- All in-country transportation (flights not included)
- Cultural and R&R activities.

There are over one and a half billion people that lack adequate housing. Our mission is to travel to areas in need throughout the world and provide on the ground assistance.

We believe that every individual deserves a chance to succeed. Our volunteer builds are adventures. We work hard, but we're going to make sure to enjoy our trip, too...

Global Impact Nicaragua Volunteer Travel Trip 2024

Volunteering with Global Impact Homes each year has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me and my husband. Whether we’re building a home for a family, contributing to a community center, or working on a school project, each trip offers meaningful opportunities to make a real difference.

What stands out the most is the authentic connection we build with the local community. GIH ensures that locals—from the project foreperson and skilled workers to those providing meals—are sourced directly from within the community. Often, family members or individuals involved with the community centers are on-site as well. I deeply appreciate the time we spend getting to know the people we’re supporting, and we’ve stayed in touch with several people afterward, which makes the experience even more meaningful for me.

This is an eye-opening experience that goes far beyond what you might see on a typical tourist trip.

In short, I feel like I gain so much more from these trips than I could ever give. The impact on both the volunteers and the local communities is profound, and I can’t recommend Global Impact Homes highly enough.

Couldn't think of a better way to spend vacation days. Love these people. Love these trips and love to help. Excited for my 6th trip!
