I learned so much!

March 23, 2022by: Anna Seuser - United States

I learned a lot about myself through this online internship. Each week we had relevant assignments due. Various tasks included creating/updating a LinkedIn account, completing quizzes to learn our personality type and how we best relate and work with others, and reading various articles. I enjoyed getting to work with other students completing online internships as well. I felt as though it gave me great tools for the in-person portion of my internship and has helped me become a more confident working professional.

The best experience I could have asked for!

My health care internship was amazing! I had the opportunity to shadow various physicians in different specialties and nurses multiple times a week. My background in Spanish definitely helped, as I was listening intently to every conversation, trying to pick up on new words and understand to the best of my ability. However, every provider was so kind and knew English, so even if you don't understand everything, they are always open to answering questions. The hospital was just a short walk from my host mother's house, making it very convenient to get to. It was also very modern and clean. My internship coordinator, Masé, was amazing at her job. She took note of my medical interests and did her best to place me with providers I would enjoy to learn from. She was always available to answer any of my questions. The most interesting part of my time at this hospital was when it was my turn to be the patient. After being sick for a few days, my host mom and I walked to the hospital I had my internship at and I found out I needed my appendix taken out. It was an awesome opportunity to experience the hospital from a patient's point of view. I felt very well cared for and even had some of the nurses I had worked with as my nurses. As I woke up from surgery, I was brought back to my room and welcomed by my host mom, my actual mom, and Masé with smiles. It was the moment that Seville truly felt like home to me.

The best online adventure

I learned a lot from the 6weeks internship as a project manager. The supervisors focused on a skill each week for us to live in it and develop it. Therefore, by the end of the week, we had to share a real example of how we accomplished our goal, and as a project manger we had to submit a weekly progress report. With the great internship I gained a lot of skills in short period of time, on top of that, I know how to control working remotely with both international company's managers and local team members. It was a tough internship but our supervisors was always their assisting us with our needs, and fill our energy to get our work done perfectly and promptly. In addition, there were webinars almost every couple days to educate us. Lastly, this internship taught me how to become a better leader and employee in the future.

Wonderful way to connect with the community and culture!

I participated in a work-study program in Seville, Spain, in 2013. As part of this program, I took 3 courses through La Universidad de Sevilla and completed an internship at a non-profit organization, Solidaridad-Interactional Andalucía. GlobalEd was very thoughtful in my placement at a community organization. They prioritized my interests and goals and I appreciate the attention they paid to making sure I had a good experience and was placed somewhere where I could contribute in a meaningful way while also gaining important skills. At Solidaridad, I taught English to local immigrants and refugees and shared information about job openings. It was lovely to come to the office, join people for breakfast and coffee at a local cafe, and connect with others. Practically, it gave me a chance to practice Spanish in a professional and supportive environment and develop other professional skills. Emotionally and culturally, it was an invaluable time to connect with people I may not have met otherwise and experience life in Seville outside the classroom. I would recommend anyone who comes to Seville to study abroad to consider a community service-related internship - it's a great way to connect and experience life in Spain! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

GlobalEd process manager and metrics analyst experience

On May 24th, 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic, I was offered the opportunity to intern for Global Education Abroad, a company that provides unique, exciting, and life-changing study abroad experiences for college students throughout the USA. I was required to have an internship for my degree plan, but nothing being offered really piqued my interest until this online option came along. I applied for the program and received an email reply from the founder & CEO Steven Davis. I was still struggling trying to figure out what value this internship would have for me, as well as what I could bring to the table. Steven scheduled a call with me and we talked for a while, getting to know each other, as well as me explaining my background and experience. He told me that I had a unique job skill set and that he thought he could utilize me internally, helping him with projects that needed to be worked on within the company, interning directly for him. I was excited, but still leary about what that would entail. He requested a couple of days to think over the options, and then responded to me with an offer letter to be his Process Manager and Metrics Analyst for the duration of my summer internship. During my internship, I was involved with several projects, to improve the business, improve the websites, and improve the experience of all students who choose GLobalEd for their summer internships. First, I would like to say that it was a joy working with Steven on these endeavors, as I had never met anyone so passionate about his company, and even more passion and intuitiveness when it came to providing not just education, but genuine value, exciting adventures, and memory-making experiences for all of the study abroad students. Second, I really enjoyed the collaborative spirit, robust dialogue, and out-of-the-box brainstorming sessions we had preparing for our various projects, or coming up with new ideas and strategies. Third, the saddest day of 2021 for me was the day that my internship ended, and I no longer had my multiple daily calls with Steven or the weekly meetings with our management team. I hope to continue my relationship with Steven in the future, as I tink he is a great mentor, as well as a genuine good person.

GlobalEd gave me an opportunity to be on a diverse team and take on some interesting projects. The experience at GlobalEd was very valuable to me, particularly, I appreciate the value of working with virtual teams and overcoming the challenges that came with it during a pandemic. I’m extremely grateful to my manager/mentor, Steven Davis, Founder and the Managing Director, who took the time to show me, orient me in the right direction through the various stages of the projects. I admire his passion to ensure GlobalEd provides that awesome experience for every student who participates in the program.

Got my dream job thanks to this experience! I just got an interview and thanks to the fact that I did an online internship, I was able to talk about collaboration software and the challenges of working remotely in a way that appealed to my employer! I can't thank GlobalEd enough for this amazing opportunity.

I learned so much about the world of business and can't wait to put it to practice when I graduate. The staff at GlobalEd, guided me through the entire internship, they were my family away from home. The experiences and the memories I created here will last me a lifetime.

Experience of a lifetime

I studied abroad in Sevilla with GlobalEd the spring semester of my sophomore year, and I am so happy I didn't miss out on this experience! From before I even arrived in Sevilla, Steven and Nicole were both extremely helpful with all of my questions and they gave me all the information I needed to prepare. We had a smaller, more intimate group which was perfect because we all got really close and had each other to depend on in times of uncertainty and loneliness, as well as in times of joy and celebration. Living in a homestay was a great way to practice Spanish and get insight into the culture, the city, and the food. Taking classes at the local university along with my internship at the local hospital was what rounded out my experience and truly made it a unique, unforgettable one. This program was not a part of my university at home at the time, but they allowed me to go due to the distinguishing aspect of allowing for work and study in a different country. I cannot recommend this program and these people enough!

GlobalEd - the good and bad

From day 1 I found GlobalEd to be a very professional program where the representatives were very helpful and answered all of my questions within a reasonable time period. The pre-departure process was very neat, and I always had a full overview of the status, what I needed to complete, and what GlobalEd was working on for me. When first arriving in Spain, I was introduced to the on-site team, which I found as a positive thing. This because I got to put a face to the name for the whole team. Activities were great throughout the semester, and I especially loved all the guided trips we had with Alejandro. When it came to my housing situation, I was very pleased with my roommates. The only thing I found troubling was the safety in the apartment. No sign of any fire extinguisher, fire alarms or similar safety equipment. Now, I have learned that this is not normal in such apartments in Spain, but I feel that this should be dealt with and covered by GlobalEd in terms of making sure the "American safety standard" is also held in Spain. If anything happens to any study abroad student in the housing that could have been prevented by something as simple as a fire extinguisher or fire alarm, I am sure GlobalEd wished they had invested in this for the landlord. I was not pleased with my experience with EUSA. EUSA bragged about how professional they were at our orientation meeting, but nothing of this reflected throughout the semester. No set syllabus before the semester started, the teachers did not grade the different assignments until months after the due dates. In one class the teacher left after 1 class, and a sub came in for the whole semester who had never taught the course. That course was just a mess the whole semester. The other GlobalEd student and I were definitely not pleased with the EUSA situation, and Nicole also knows about some of our issues. I would definitely recommend students to complete courses at the University of Sevilla instead of EUSA. My 2-week language school at Clic was very good. I found Clic to be a professional school with a high level of knowledge to what they were doing. I would definitely recommend students to complete a language course here before starting the semester. My internship at GlampingHub was an interesting ride. Since I was only there for 2 days per week, my supervisor had some difficulties with keeping me busy. GlampingHub got interns working there every day, so I felt I fell short of them, cause they always had stuff to do, while I found myself constantly asking my supervisor for things to do. A great place to work with a lot of great people, but they could definitely have gotten more out of me as an intern with a little more planning to it. My overall experience with GlobalEd is that they have a great team of people, and it is very organised. If I ever had a question, I would always get an answer, so there is great growth potential for GlobalEd.

Thank you Ole for the detailed and constructive review. Our team was delighted to have you as a program participant. And we’re so happy that your experience with us and the team was positive. Even though this response is posted much later, we took action on your comments. Thanks to your suggestions, we started implementing fire extinguishers for every household and a fire blanket for every program participant. With regard to EUSA, and your experience not meeting expectations... we shared your feedback with your host institution in one of our periodic meetings. EUSA, as well as all of the host institutions in Seville, has always been receptive to recommendations on how to improve and offer a balance between the Spanish and US academic experience. We continue to monitor the student experience as a whole and provide ongoing feedback to our host institutions, families, companies, etc… Once again, thank you for choosing GlobalEd.

GlobalEd did a phenomenal job at facilitating my abroad experience in every possible way. To develop me professionally, they placed me at an internship that allowed me to practice the technical skills I had learned in school and learn how to use Spanish in the workplace. They also helped me articulate my experience through a resume and interview to help me find employment after graduation. From a cultural perspective, they introduced us to the culture of Sevilla and other Spanish cities and educated us on the culture. To do this, we had excursions every other week to cities such as Granada, Cadiz, and Cordoba. The cultural education helped me appreciate my time in Spain so much more. Socially, they allowed us the free time to explore Spain and soak up the experience. After my time abroad with GlobalEd, I have grown both professional, culturally, and as a whole person.

Amazing internship & interesting classes in Seville, Spain

I loved being a part of GlobalEd because it was very personal - Steven & Rosa, the company founders, were basically like my second set of parents and really cared about my experience in Spain. They helped place me in a very interesting internship at a flamenco museum in Seville where I was able to interact with lots of international tourists on a daily basis, improve my Spanish dramatically, make friends with my coworkers who were from all over the world, and also learn about a part of Spanish culture I didn't know much about before: the beautiful art of flamenco. My classes at the University of Seville were also very interesting because they were classes I would normally never be able to take in the USA.

A study abroad unlike any other!

Ever since I could remember, I have always had an interest in living abroad. So, as soon as I got to college, I practically jumped at the opportunity to participate in one of my university's study abroad programs. Today, I look back on my summer studying and interning in Seville as one of the best of my life! And yet, after returning home and hearing all about other friends' study abroad experiences, I am confident that GlobalEd's Summer Internship and Spanish Language Program is a study abroad unlike any other! Beyond finding me an internship that matched my professional goals and interests, the GlobalEd staff did everything they could (and MORE) to prepare me for my international internship. Although I never experienced any issues, I always felt extremely supported and welcomed by the GlobalEd director, Steven, and his amazing staff. My home-stay was also especially welcoming, so much so that I remain in contact with my señora today! Honestly, I can't thank GlobalEd enough for the time and effort they put into my study abroad experience and recommend them to anyone looking to get the most out of studying abroad. Thanks to this program, Seville is now one of my favorite places in the world!

Internship in Seville, Spain

First, I would like to thank the GlobalEd people for the great program they provide to students and for its unquestionable commitment. When I signed up for GlobalEd internship, I was bit nervous. It turned out I worried too much! The GlobalEd people did everything to make my stay in Seville as enjoyable as it could be. Steven and Rosa were always there when you needed them. Steven even picked me up at the airport and had a bag of goodies for me! Both of them are very intelligent and caring people and I miss having coffee and tapas with them! I ended up doing my internship at a local tour company where I gained some marketing and website development skills. I even was able to join the company’s weekend excursions to Portugal and Morocco! I gained some professional skills, improved my Spanish, and had some fun! The place I chose to live in was a four bedroom Spanish style apartment that was in walking distance from my job. My roommates were great and they helped me with my Spanish. My friend that I met in Seville chose to live with his host family that cooked nice Spanish meals for him - he loved it! Books can’t teach you things you can learn living in a different culture! You should do it while you have an opportunity. Seville is my favorite city in Spain and certainly is the one I recommend to experience. I definitely recommend GlobalEd as I don’t think any other company out there would care for you as much as GlobalEd does!

Medical Internship in Seville, Spain

The medical internship with GlobalEd went above and beyond my expectations! On arrival, Steven picked me up at the airport and introduced me to my host family, took the students out to dinner, and showed us around the city. At the hospital, the doctors were all super friendly and helpful, and really interested in helping you get the most out of your experience. The whole hospital, including its patients were very understanding of your Spanish level, and many of them wanted you to help them learn a little English as well. I was able to see and help out with so much at the hospital! You can observe the urgent care clinic, pediatrics, help nurses with rounds and medications and so much more! I was even able to watch several C-sections and a natural birth!!! This program also tailors your assignment in the hospital to your interests! Outside of the hospital, I had a great host family who were all very welcoming and really kind people. There are also tons of opportunities to travel on the weekends, and there is a great night life in Seville as well! This program is truly a once in a life time opportunity!

This program was a home run, to simply say it changed my life would be an understatement. Years later I still think back on my experience and I can honestly say I will never forget it. From the beginning Steven and Rosa were there for me they helped me get credits for not only my classes but also my internships, they also went the extra mile to become an approved provider for my University since I was the first student at my school to use them as a provider. Once in Spain the entire experience from the moment I got off the plane till I went home was awesome. They placed me in a great internship and helped me pick the classes that best suited me and my skills. Since graduating every interview I have had has brought up and asked me about my experience abroad. In fact, one of my bosses sons went through the same program after hearing about my experience. Honestly, If I could do it all over again I would not change a thing.

Medical Internship in Seville, Spain!

I participated in a medical internship in Seville, Spain for six weeks over the summer. It was an amazing experience!! Being that I am an Exercise Science major (Pre-Physical Therapy), there weren't a whole lot of classes that I was able to take abroad to fulfill requirements for my major. I was also unable to go for a full semester because it would have put me behind in school. I've always wanted to go to Spain, and this internship gave me the opportunity to get a study abroad experience in the country I've always wanted to go to....and not put me behind in school! While I was there, I did work in a hospital, a physical therapy clinic, and was able to be in the operating room during a few surgeries. The internship was very personalized and gave me some hands on experience in the field of study I am going into. On the weekends when I wasn't working at my internship, I was able to travel all over Europe! It was a blast. I also got letters of recommendations from a doctor that I worked with in Spain and the director of the program to use on my grad school applications. Spain was an absolutely beautiful place to study abroad and a greater resume builder for me! I can't say enough good things about my experience, and I highly recommend to anyone that they take advantage of any opportunity to study abroad!

Reliable, Well-rounded Program

I participated in a mixed study/intern abroad program with Global Ed in the fall of 2013. I had a remarkable experience. The staff was patient and informative when answering my many questions. They truly were available to students while we were in Spain; my family and I felt very reassured knowing they were there and ready to help if any problems arose. They had clearly thought ahead regarding anything students may need and were prepared to orient us to our new temporary home upon our arrival. In my opinion, the most beneficial part of my study/intern abroad experience was my internship in a private hospital. I was able to see and interact with more patients than I ever would have been able to in the US. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of activity I was able to shadow. I had an excellent host family that helped me improve my language skills and welcomed me into their home. They were one of the best parts of my experience. Overall, Global Ed is a small program which allows students more individualized attention. Throughout the entire process I felt as though my specific wishes were being catered to. I am glad I chose to study abroad with them.

The Preponderant Study Abroad Program

January 21, 2015by: Taylor L. - Seville

Without question, GlobalEd exhibits the preponderance of study abroad programs in terms of quality and usefulness, among many other notable characteristics. Mr. Steven Davis and his wife, Mrs. Rosa Moreno, are not only charming and intelligent, but extremely well-connected not only in Seville but multitudinous other places in the world as well. The overall organization of the program gives students a smorgasbord of cultural, practical, and purely interesting opportunities and exercises. Due to the deep involvement of Mr. Davis and Mrs. Moreno in the program, extemporaneous meetings and trips often arise (tailored to the specific student/s). This program is truly more than many of the other so rigidly structured corporate-run programs. I was given many experiences related to my major, meeting with business professionals, entrepreneurs, as well as working on actual marketing research for a start-up company based out of Seville. All of the meetings were interesting and fun. The excursions were led by a friendly and knowledgeable guide (Alejandro), and were to significant locations in southern Spain. Nevertheless, there was no shortage of free-time for personal travel and exploration of the amiable and beautiful city of Seville. My experiences can hardly be summarized in a simple review; however, I am grateful to GlobalEd (Steven and Rosa) for opening to me one of the best experiences of my life. I absolutely recommend this program and everything that comes with it.

Intern for the Museo del Baile Flamenco with GlobalEd

The dedication and passionate energy demonstrated by GlobalEd's Managing Director and Academic Coordinator made this internship into a valuable and unforgettable experience. Throughout my 6-week stay, they offered the perfect balance of support for the innumerable culture shocks while at the same time giving space for full cultural immersion and personal growth. I enjoyed my time in Sevilla so much that I ended up spending a year abroad in two different countries and am currently working abroad. Now that I can look back and compare the structure of various student travel programs, it is clear that GlobalEd did an impeccable job in all aspects of the study/work abroad experience. I am so happy to see the program expanding its reach and giving other students the opportunity to develop their skills and become fluent in the cultures of other countries.

My time in Seville, Spain

January 20, 2015by: Gabe C.

My time in Spain has definitely been the highlight of my years in college, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. In fact, I kind of did. I studied abroad with GlobalEd in Seville twice, one semester in 2013 and one in 2014. The reason for this is, simply put, it is an incredible program and I was dying to do it again. I got to see Roman ruins, ancient castles, and even where Columbus petitioned the king and queen of Spain for his voyage west. All of these trips were included in the program and came with our own private tour guide. The housing was perfect; I got to live with a family who really took me in, and I think that this might have been where I learned the most during my time. They welcomed conversation and helped me with all kids of things (such as train tickets) while at the same time they gave me all the freedom I needed during my stay with them. I am very grateful to the staff at GlobalEd for all of the things they did to put this program together and I would recommend it to anyone. Go for it!
