Frequently Asked Questions
Do students also participate in extracurricular activities?
Yes. FIEN Foundation combines web development with fun and educational activities. Students may visit the APOPO Centre at Sokoine University, hike the Uluguru Mountains, visit local and Maasai families, explore national parks such as Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and visit Zanzibar to learn about history, culture, and enjoy beach activities. Activities promote teamwork, cultural exchange, and personal growth.
Do students receive support throughout the internship?
Yes. Students receive continuous support from intern support volunteers (students from Sokoine University of Agriculture) and FIEN Foundation internship team. They help students settle in, provide guidance, and orient them to the town and local environment. They also accompany students during selected activities, helping them explore local culture, places, and recreational opportunities while enjoying their internship experience.
Does the accommodation offer European-standard amenities?
Yes. Based on feedback from previous interns, the apartments provide amenities comparable to, and in some cases even better than student accommodation in Europe and the USA.
