Share a welcoming, bilingual home with fellow travellers while you teach, create, or explore Rio de Janeiro. No need to be fluent in English or Portuguese—just a little of either helps. Our main program: Join the Escola Casa do Mar English Teaching Program and support free English classes for 120 students across Vidigal, Rocinha, and Mandela 1. Small groups (1:3 ratio) ensure meaningful impact, and no teaching experience or Portuguese is required. You can also earn a TEFL certificate (optional). Living experience: Stay in a shared, community-driven house in either Santa Teresa (a bohemian hilltop neighborhood) or Vidigal, surrounded by nature with ocean views. Expect a vibrant lifestyle with fellow volunteers—beaches, dancing, and exploring the city together. Community & activities: Enjoy weekly churrascos, nature trips (like Parque Nacional da Tijuca), surfing, hikes, cultural outings, and local parties. The environment is inclusive, social, and free of cliques. About us: A passionate team of Brazilians and internationals dedicated to making a positive impact while embracing life in Rio.

An Amazing Experience

It was an excellent experience, I connected a lot with the local culture. The Favela Inc project is fantastic. The weeks I spent at the project was one in a lifetime experience, Having the opportunity to teach and learn at the same time in a cultural exchange with the locals which is also a big chance to learn the language.
