Study Aboard : Living & Learning in Greece
Program Overview
On the small Greek island of Lipsi, nestled among rolling hills and olive groves, lies a charming farm and vineyard that embodies the essence of eco-tourism. This destination offers simple beauty, where the sun shines brightly, the breeze carries the scent of wildflowers, and the sea sparkles in the distance.
This little farm and vineyard on Lipsi is more than just a site for food production; it represents a rich family tradition and serves as a hub for people to connect with the land and each other. It offers genuine hospitality and sustainable agricultural practices, making it an ideal study abroad experience in Greece.
At Dimitris Farms, the Immersive Sustainable Living & Agricultural Program offers daily experiences, including three nutritious farm-to-table Mediterranean meals and three hours of hands-on learning in sustainability. Participants have two free days each week to explore and relax.
The program offers a Certificate of Completion and covers Culinary Arts with a focus on the Mediterranean Diet and farm-to-table cooking. Participants learn sustainable farming practices, eco-composting, and natural food preservation, and even get involved in olive oil production. The curriculum includes Viticulture and Enology, animal care, and responsibilities at a cat sanctuary. The program emphasizes environmental stewardship activities like beach cleaning and sustainable recycling. The program also offers opportunities in eco-building, art projects, and business education through a retail farm store and wine sales training. To enhance well-being, activities include hiking, nature walks, and an optional digital detox program with instruction in Greek and English.
Optional activities for personal enjoyment include adventure options like horse riding, swimming, snorkeling, and island hopping. Cultural experiences such as Greek dancing and attending festivals are also available.
