Participating in the winter session was the best choice I ever made!
May 10, 2022by: Andrea Covey - United StatesProgram: Winter Study Abroad in Greece with CYAWhen I applied to study abroad at CYA my plan was only to be there for the spring term. However, as I looked into the winter offerings, I was very attracted to the Anthropology of the City course with professor Aimee Placas. The course was incredible and I'm SO glad I made that leap to take it and extend my time at CYA. The course really took a deep dive into current events in Athens and gave insight into both the culture of Athenians as well as immigrant communities and other small groups living in the city. Most if not all of our classes were spent outdoors exploring the city--and with the best professor I could ever recommend!
CYA Winter 2022- Archaeology
February 17, 2022by: Gaetano Ragusa - United StatesProgram: Winter Study Abroad in Greece with CYAThis was truly one of the most interesting and exciting programs I have ever been on. College Year in Athens is dedicated to teaching students in a way that gets them out of the classroom and into the world around them, even in the midst of a global health crisis. This three week long winter program is a great way to familiarize oneself with the fundamentals of an archaeological excavation and meet people with similar interests. Professor Karavas is one of the most knowledgeable professors in the field and is able to draw on his experiences at his own dig site to provide students with a world-class and one of a kind experience.

Hi Gaetano, thanks for spending the Winter Session with us! It sounds like you were really able to connect with your coursework and interests while on-site at an archaeological excavation! We're so happy to hear that you were able to enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience with CYA!
