Ay Caramba!
April 06, 2012by: Lindsay EldredgeProgram: Semester in Barcelona - Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona
Barcelona is one of the greatest cities in the world. It is constantly full of life and joy. There is something new, exciting and unique around every corner. The city has not only the bustling lively city vibe but also has quaint beautiful neighborhoods where you can people watch and just stroll around to enjoy the scenery. The experiences I had in Barcelona changed me forever and were some of the greatest days of my life. Academics: Some classes were excellent, for example Mediterranean Politics, and Spanish History of the 20th Century. While other classes were extremely boring and ineffectively planned and executed like Spanish Art and Cultural Heritage. I wish that a greater variety of classes were offered. Living Situation: Absolutely loved my apartment. It was so great. Cultural Immersion: I wish I had more opportunities to meet Spanish people my own age, since I didn't live in a home stay I wanted to spend time with Spanish students in other ways but this was difficult because all of my classes and the campus that my classes were on were for the most part Americans. Program Administration: The staff in Barcelona were incredible. Laura and Rich were so helpful, friendly and just overall great. They planned some really great experiences and trips for us. However I was not satisfied whatsoever with my experience with the staff in the U.S. staff were not knowledgable, disorganized, and often wrong with information provided.

I really liked this program. They took good care of us and had many activities for us to attend. They also sent out a weekly email of recommendations for good places to eat and visit. Living Situation: Was supposed to get my own room. I ended up having to share with another student in a very small room. Health and Safety: Lots of pick pocketers
