CIEE Teach Abroad & TEFL

This was the second program I experienced through CIEE and both programs truly were top-notch and ones I would highly recommend. CIEE truly supported me in every step of the way and their staff always were on hand to answer questions and be of help both before and after arrival. The intensive orientation they include before beginning your placement truly does help you start to get off your feet in terms of where to start with lesson planning and getting to know the Thai culture and way of life. However, each placement truly is your own unique experience and I recommend anyone doing this program to put all pre-conceived notions aside and dive right in to everything Thailand has to offer. This experience truly made me realize my true passion for international education and led me to the career I now have. There are many placements and CIEE does everything they can to give you your first choice in terms of location. But, your money will go much further if you choose not to be in Bangkok. The accommodation is simple, but completely adequate as Thailand still is a developing country. The staff onsite are awesome, and I still keep in touch with some of them today. I truly recommend this program and promise you won't regret it! CIEE truly is a great organization and their programs truly are life changing.

One year ago, I decided to make a bold life decision and go to Spain to teach abroad through the CIEE Teach in Spain program. Other than one semester in England as an undergrad, I had never done anything like this before. CIEE helped me through the arduous task of getting a Schengen visa, and helped me get settled in. Their orientation process was fun and informative, and throughout the year they had kept me informed of developments in the program and invited me to various dinners and meetings that they held. I made friends for life through the CIEE program. I also received my TEFL certification through CIEE as well. I stayed a second year in Spain, and continued with CIEE through their alumni ambassador program. I even contributed back by working as an orientation leader for the next generation of Auxiliares. CIEE was a great experience for me and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in traveling and teaching abroad. They prepared me very well for teaching English to students, living in Spain, and getting accustomed to Spanish culture.

I was part of the teaching abroad program in Madrid, Spain. I didn't know what to expect but now I can say that it was one of the most rewarding experience I have ever had. The teachers and students in the school were great and welcoming. I was also able to learn about the culture and travel thus enhancing my personal view of the world. I truly believe that this is an experience everyone should have and CIEE is a fantastic program that allows you to do it easily and with support.
