Teaching Abroad in South Korea!

CIEE has given me a great support system and have truly prepared me for working in South Korea through EPIK. When you apply for any job, especially one in a new country, there can be alot of stress and confusion. However, CIEE made sure that that stress would be kept at a minimum through consistant support and advice. When you apply to teach abroad, you always have the option to apply on your own but i truly belive that had i applied on my own, i would not have made it this far and i definelty would not have been as prepared as i am. Throug the application process, CIEE helps you step by step with help on the application, visa application, and even tips with interviews and so much more as they provide assistance though the staff and as well as a special canvas page with preperation pages. Whenever you have any questions, even the silly ones, someone on the staff is ready to reply with an answer (usually immediatly or within a few hours!), so you know someone will always have your back! The overall bets thing as well has been the support in and out of the country, as CIEE provides a support staff before your arrival and even during your time here in Korea through their CIEE Teach Abroad Staff who are here to help you adjust to life or whenever you need a hand. Overall, i reccomened going though CIEE if you plan to teach abroad if you want to be the best prepared candiate you can be.

Great support and security

I applied to the EPIK program to teach in public schools through the CIEE program and I couldn't have been happier to go through them. I was put in touch with an advisor who helped with every step of the application process and always answered my countless emails. My program also came with a full course to receive my TEFL certification in which I learned a lot of valuable teaching tools. Through CIEE I felt as prepared and secured as I could be as I left for South Korea. I've been here for a little over 3 months and I absolutely have been loving my experience. Being provided housing rent-free and great benefits have allowed me to spend more of my time exploring this country and my city. One of the things CIEE does very well is put you in contact with other people in your country. We had an orientation for other CIEE teachers where we could meet other English teachers and establish friendships. I've never felt a sense of being alone while I've been here whether that's with friends or support from the staff. Definitely would recommend!

I'm enjoying the experience!

I appreciate all the help and effort CIEE put into helping me find a job here in South Korea. I like my school and my apartment. I've been to a few organized get-togethers with other CIEE participants, and I enjoy talking to other people from America. The reason I chose CIEE was because of the TEFL, which has really helped my confidence and my work here. I would recommend them for the same reason, but I also didn't realize it was possible to go on my own, which it totally is. For next year, although CIEE has been great, I think I will cut the cost and find my own job and insurance. I now have the TEFL certification and a year of experience, so it will be easy to find another job, maybe in a different country this time.
