What’s the difference between First Year Abroad and Gap Year Abroad?

With CIEE First Year Abroad, you’ll complete your first semester or academic year of college abroad while enrolled with CIEE’s school of record and academic home, Dean College. With a CIEE Gap Year Abroad program, you’ll defer college and explore the world before diving into university life. On this program, you will take language or writing classes and live with a host family or in a residence hall, hotel, or hostel.

Learning Spanish and Exploring Granada

I really enjoyed my time here and improved my Spanish a lot. The CLIC classes helped me learn and practice every day, and the trip to Granada was a highlight. It was a great mix of learning, travel, and new experiences.

Great Host Family and New Friends Abroad

Great experience and very well organized. I had an amazing host family in a great location and met other gap students who became close friends. Playing soccer with friends in my neighborhood was a highlight.
