CIEE HS Summer Abroad: Marine Ecology in Nice

Nestled on the shoreline of France’s Côte d'Azur, Nice offers a front-row seat to study coastal ecosystems and marine biodiversity. Alongside other Global Navigators, design a conservation-focused project that highlights human impact on aquatic environments, and explore solutions for protecting ocean life.

In class, you will investigate ecosystem dynamics and the effects of climate change on aquatic environments. Snorkel, explore tide pools, and meet local researchers and experts. Make field observations, conduct sustainability assessments, and write technical reports as you develop scientific skills essential in the field.

On excursions, visits to Monaco’s Oceanographic Museum and boat tours of coastal towns provide a deeper understanding of conservation science in action. Your time in Nice will reveal the inner workings of marine ecology while immersed in the vibrant culture of the French Riviera.
