Chatteris Educational Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization that has partnered with local schools in Hong Kong since 1990. We provide English development programs to give students the opportunity to learn English in a fun and interactive way, promote cultural exchange, and develop diverse young leaders with a global vision.
Chatteris Tutors are placed in full-time positions at local Hong Kong schools for nine months to help boost English language proficiency. They motivate students to learn and use English daily through dynamic interactions that enhance the learning environment. They collaborate with local English teaching staff to plan and deliver exciting and engaging lessons. They also organize interactive workshops, instructive tutorials, and experiential events that complement the school’s curriculum and empower students’ confidence and ability.

Does Chatteris provide accommodation?
We provide accommodation during your 3-week orientation. During that time, our team will help you find a safe and comfortable place to live for the rest of the year. There are lots of housing options in Hong Kong and you should feel free to choose an arrangement that will best suit your needs.
Where are your schools located?
We partner with schools all over Hong Kong so you could be placed on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon, or in the New Territories.
I am a qualified teacher; do I have to attend the orientation period?
Everyone who joins the program needs to attend orientation. Orientation is not just a time to learn different education techniques; it serves as an introduction to the Chatteris approach and Hong Kong.
Are there opportunities to work for Chatteris after my contract ends?
Depending on availability, you can apply to stay with Chatteris as a Senior Tutor or join our office as a member of the Program Management Team.
Will I need an employment visa to work in Hong Kong?
Yes, unless you are a permanent resident of Hong Kong. Once you have received an offer to join the program, we will begin collecting the required documents for your visa application. Chatteris will apply for the employment visa on your behalf and handle communication with the Immigration Department.
