Arcos Online Learning

Arcos Learning Abroad is an extremely organized & impactful organization. Unfortunately, my university did not allow me to to study abroad in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Arcos was extremely helpful in me still receiving the planned Spanish credits through their “online learning experiences”. I took 4 courses total online (2 one summer, and 2 the following). While I cannot speak to their in-person study abroad experience because of the events of COVID-19, I can speak to the quality of professors I had with my online professors. Having experienced superb communication & guidance from the organization throughout the online course, I have no doubts that the in-person study abroad programs offer impactful education, and well-rounded, organized, safe, and fun experiences for students outside of class. If you’re seeking the opportunity to earn college level spanish credit or study abroad in a Spanish speaking country, I highly recommend Arcos.

I’m this course, I was able to explore some of my interests that lay outside of my major. The material was engaging and the professor was extremely knowledgeable and kind willing to ensure I understood each topics. Beyond this, having a class with a professor who’s native language was Spanish allowed me to engage with the language in a way I never had before. I truly believe that I advanced in my language skills more in this short time than ever.

Although studying virtually is not ideal for cultural enrichment, I was greatly thankful for the responsiveness and engagement of my professor each day. I spent around 3 hours a day in a call with a break in between my lesson. As my course referred to Mexican Culture and Civilization, my professor always provided plenty of articles, videos, photos, and information about each topic. I appreciated her attentiveness and how she approached teaching Spanish for a non-native speaker. Overall, I would highly recommend Arcos for Learning Abroad for many university students.

I personally never did well in large classrooms and having this experience be one on one helped me learn much more than I have ever learned in my college classes. Even though the classes were accelerated the material was doable and I really enjoyed my experience. The professors were so nice and always answered any questions I had.

I absolutely loved my experience with Arcos Learning Abroad. The component that made it the most enjoyable was my professor, Yesenia Garnica. She taught Beginner Spanish 1 and I have never enjoyed a class more. She made class interactive, fun, comfortable, and interesting! She is so friendly and encouraging and I would absolutely take another class with her again! My course was online and met Monday through Friday for just a few hours a day, but the time flew by because of the different class activities!! Communication with the program was also very good, and I would not have enjoyed learning Spanish as much as I did if Professor Yesenia was not my teacher!

I came into the program already having done a short study abroad with ARCOS in Spain, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Doing another intensive was even more helpful. The three weeks I spent in ARCOS' online program were extremely useful and improved my Spanish skills a lot. Laura was very supportive and a great teacher and I always looked forward to classes. Thank you to everyone at ARCOS!

The instructors were kind, friendly and focused. I enjoyed my time and learned a great deal of Spanish vocabulary within a short period of time. I would definitely recommend this program to others and I can only say good things. I also liked the small class size so there was more participation and interaction between the student and the instructor.

ARCOS Abroad online was my first experience with speaking with a native Spanish speaker on a regular basis. Learning a new language is hard sometimes, so I appreciated Lorena's patience with me. I think that speaking with natives can be scary because of the fear of sounding dumb, but she never made me feel that way. Brent Hunter did a wonderful job with communicating with me whenever I had questions about the program and being friendly throughout the experience. Thanks for my first "study abroad" experience.

After finding out that I could not study abroad due to the pandemic, I was concerned that I would never become fluent in Spanish. However, the semester that I spent online with Arcos taught me that I do not need to be in country to be fluent, nor to learn the culture. In fact, even though I had not step foot into the country, I felt like I knew the culture and the norms like the back of my hand. The professors are wonderful and want to help you succeed. The courses mirror your needs, focusing on the aspects you need/want to learn and practice. Also, I was able to complete an education internship virtually, in which I taught Costa Rican children. This aided my confidence in my language skills and gave me more exposure to my future profession. Overall, I highly recommend the online courses through Arcos for both students who cannot study abroad or who want a precursor to their on-site experience!

I did not get the opprtunity to go abroad but my professor made me feel as if I was. The lessons were intresting and I felt as if I had a good insight into the Oxaca lifestyle. I had a fun time learning and would highly reccomend to all!

My professor was very helpful and had many fun activities which helped me further my Spanish speaking skills. Having the class one on one was also a bonus because the class was able to focus on what I needed to improve most on which was very beneficial.

Arcos made it so easy to find a program that was right for me. My in-person study abroad program with a different company got cancelled last minute, and the Arcos staff took the time to answer all my questions on multiple occasions and helped tailor my online program to my needs. I took online Creative Writing with a professor from Oaxaca who worked with me one-on-one. I loved the experience, I learned a ton, and I got credit towards my Spanish major! Thank you to Arcos for making this the smoothest study abroad experience ever!

I can't thank the Arcos Learning Abroad Team for making this opportunity possible for me. As an online student who couldn't have a traditional semester-long study abroad experience, Arcos was flexible and worked with extensively me to create the perfect program. My instructor was enthusiastic about the material and each day's learning experience was so fun. I recommend connecting with Arcos to plan your study abroad trip and have an experience of a lifetime.

I had a great experience with Arcos. I find their program to be affordable, flexible and professional. My professor was fantastic, and she is by far one of my favorite professors that I’ve ever had. I really enjoyed my experience! I feel Arcos did whatever they could to make the experience the same as in person as possible. I wasn’t able to go to Costa Rica, but the country came to me. I truly learned some much from the coursed that I took, and I recommend this program to anyone thinking of studying abroad. If you aren’t sure if study abroad is for you, try the virtual program to see if it’s something you would want to do in person in later semesters. 11/10 recommend!
