Oaxaca, Mexico’s is a vibrant hub for arts and culture and the perfect destination for creative exploration. This immersive program offers morning art classes at the University of Oaxaca focusing on painting or drawing. Throughout the program, you’ll visit Oaxaca's world-famous art galleries, museums, and workshops to learn about artistic traditions including murals, printmaking, and stencil art.
You will also visit Indigenous villages known for their thriving folk art communities and meet gifted artisans who work with pottery, textiles, candles, and the colorful painted wood carvings of mystical animals called alebrijes. In these hands-on workshops, you’ll not only witness their craft but also create your own unique works of art to take home.
Living with a host family provides an authentic cultural experience, complete with three home-cooked meals a day and a chance to practice your Spanish. Your journey will also include exciting excursions to Oaxaca's natural and archeological wonders including the Zapotec pyramids at Monte Albán. This program offers a unique blend of artistic development and cultural immersion.
