Located on the northeast coast of Scotland, Aberdeen is the country’s third-largest city and home to a University that has been a center of excellence for five centuries. Founded as King’s College in 1495, Aberdeen has distinguished itself over its long history as a center of research, boasting five Nobel laureates among its distinguished faculty, with discoveries taking place in areas as varied as chemistry, agriculture, physics, and medicine. This spirit of innovation continues today through Aberdeen’s strength in STEM and many other subjects, commitment to research, and numerous international collaborations. The university is ranked internationally in many subjects, including divinity, agriculture, and anthropology, and is among the top 20 universities in the UK, with high rankings in sport science, medicine and dentistry. Aberdeen is also renowned for environmental science and hydrocarbon/renewable energy studies linked to the North Sea oil reserves. Program Highlights
You'll find everything from animal health & welfare to sports & leisure management, as well as courses in Scottish history & culture. Philosophy, English, Celtic & divinity studies are also popular.
There is a strong emphasis on STEM subjects such as biosciences, engineering, environmental science and hydrocarbon/renewable energy studies linked to the North Sea oil reserves.
The recently renovated library is one of the world's "Must See" libraries, offering seven stories of material and incredible views of the city and North Sea.
The university is located on the outskirts of the city and retains the feel of a small village with a congenial student body.
