Arcadia Abroad - University Of St Andrews
by: Arcadia Abroad
As Scotland’s oldest university, established in the early part of the fifteenth century, St. Andrews boasts a proud heritage of excellence, demonstrated by its motto, “Ever to Excel;” its prestige as the most international of Scotland’s universities (with applicants from 169 countries); its reputation for exemplary teaching and research; its high post-graduation employment rate; and its continually positive level of student retention and satisfaction. The University is located in a picturesque coastal town, which is home to two beautiful beaches. The town of St. Andrews is also the historic birthplace of the 18-hole round game of golf, which was created at the Old Course in 1764 - a refinement of a Scottish game developed in the 15th century. St. Andrews has particular strengths in humanities and the sciences. In addition, courses in sustainable development, and terrorism and political violence are of note.
