Women’s Development in Tanzania
by: AMANI HOSTEL
With more tourists visiting the country in recent years, Tanzania has experienced economic progress; nonetheless, many Maasai people in Tanzania, particularly women, struggle to make ends meet. Our women's development volunteers in Tanzania collaborate with a regional non-profit that instructs Maasai women how to create handicrafts including clothing, jewelry, trinkets, and home goods and sell them on the global market. Volunteers could assist the women in learning English or make it easier for them to interact with English-speaking clients. Some volunteers, who are skilled craftspeople, assist in creating goods to sell or instruct the ladies in a new craft or method. By working together with locals, volunteers may support Tanzania's economic growth and help Maasai women achieve economic independence. Both female and male volunteers are welcome to work on programs for women's development. Our volunteers may anticipate their days in Tanzania to be a mix of fulfilling volunteer activities, cultural encounters, and spare time for unwinding and reflection. Remember that a regular day might be anything but ordinary when volunteering abroad!
