Volunteer in Zanzibar: Pre-School Teaching and Education

Head to the magical island archipelago of Zanzibar and volunteer in a program geared toward school and community education. The placement is based in Jambiani, a village located south of Zanzibar town. You will spend most of your time assisting teachers with pre-school, primary, and secondary-level students as well as with adult literacy classes.

As a volunteer, you will handle the following tasks:
- Teach English to children, teachers, and community members
- Lead singing and dancing activities for children
- Develop children’s creative skills through drawing, painting, and coloring
- Play games with children to aid in their development
- Help with the general maintenance of the school to keep it a pleasant learning environment

After a long day’s work, you can bask in the pristine beaches, clear blue water, and lively culture of Zanzibar. Plus, take the time to hang out with the locals and share in their daily activities.

To be eligible for this program, volunteers must:
- Be at least 18 at the time of departure
- Provide a police background check
- Be in good health prior to arrival
