Volunteer in Tanzania: Maasai AIDS Network

Become a part of this program, which focuses on teaching and raising awareness among school children and community members on ways to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS as well as to care for those who are already infected. As a volunteer, your main tasks will be running an awareness campaign within your target school, learning institution, orphanage, or community. You will work with program officers to foster peer-to-peer learning, which has been proven to be an effective model for behavior change communication among adolescents in Africa. You will conduct training and use various methods, such as role-play and lectures, to get the message about HIV/AIDS across. As such, you will have the opportunity to come up with extracurricular activities in groups and schools. These could include dance, poetry, music, drama, and sports—all of which aim to build relationships with Tanzanian youth.
