Sign up for this internship program in Tanzania, which is an ideal placement for students and individuals with an educational background. Have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of teaching and gain invaluable experience in your chosen field. As an intern, your primary role is to teach English for 2-3 hours a day (six days a week) in nurseries, primary, and secondary schools as well as schools run by regional orphanages. You have 2-3 teaching hours per day (six days a week) and you may also be asked to assist with administrative duties and with the tasks of local English teachers. You don’t need specific qualifications to join the English Teaching project in Tanzania. However, you are expected to be fluent in English. Previous experience in teaching is helpful but not essential. This internship requires that you choose a particular area of interest related to teaching English and explore this further with the help of an assigned supervisor. As a note though, your project supervisor doesn’t develop the program for you as it is up to you to get as much as little out of the entire experience.

Program Highlights

Stay with a host family or at the orphanage compound, depending on your placement.

Become exposed to the numerous issues affecting the education of Tanzanian children and youth as well as the current lack of teachers in rural villages.

Experience life in Tanzania while living in a local community.

End your trip with some sightseeing and excursions to see the beauty Tanzania beyond the communities you have helped.
