My experience was fantastic
January 23, 2023by: Shanice BingerMy experience was fantastic. I've learned a lot. I've made new friends including Dominicans, Americans, Turks and Thais. As a line cook I gained a lot of experience in the kitchen. I also learned how to work in groups, proper time management and I even started learning some Spanish :-). My sponsor Alliance Abroad was super great, we had monthly checkups and emails with the relevant information to complete the program. They were with us every step of the way. Thank you Alliance, looking forward to Summer 2023.

Like a shooting star, I’ve come so far!
May 06, 2020by: Vincent Sabellina - PhilippinesAlliance Abroad Group (AAG) has been instrumental in fulfilling my dreams of teaching in America and participate in the teacher exchange program! I always look forward to showcase my Filipino heritage to my Western High School family, here in Las Vegas Nevada! From sharing sumptuous Filipino gastronomic treats, fun trivial facts to various wondrous Philippine tourist spots, I must say it has been a great honor to represent my beloved Philippines! This was made possible because of AAG’s great guidance and support! Moreover, I am grateful to enjoy the culture and the utmost warmth and hospitality of the American people! It’s been an amazing journey! Just like a shooting star, I never thought I would come this far. I get to travel among the scenic and majestic states from West coast to East coast! And with this, I get to tick off some places on my bucket list! What a marvelous journey! The Alliance Abroad Group makes sure that I am safe and healthy while I am participating in this cultural exchange program. And may I add, they make sure that I get to enjoy monthly cultural activities such as ice skating in the posh Cosmopolitan ice skating rink and partying Mardi Gras style in TopGolf! Oh such treats brought to you by, AAG! But what truly matters is to be able to teach and touch lived of the American children and making a difference in their lives, that to me is what makes this journey worthwhile and fulfilling! Thank you, AAG team, for taking me places which a kid in my humble Philippines, could only dream of. Indeed, just like a shooting star, I have come this far - fulfilled and honored!

Teaching rocks!
May 06, 2020by: Monica Tumonong - PhilippinesWhen I applied to be an Exchange Teacher, I expected to develop professionally through trainings and seminars that my host School would offer. I did but I was surprised that being an Exchange Teacher was way more than that. I had the opportunity to teach the best 5th Graders! Everyday, they have curious questions about me and the country where I am from. They even wanted to learn my language. When I tell them stories about students like them in my country, they would really be interested. They would enjoy my stories and share them with Schoolmates when they go out of School. I was even surprised that a lot of kids in different Grade levels would know me and call me . I became famous so fast that kids would greet me anywhere around the School and ask me questions. My principal is amazing! She has been a great instructional leader. She taught me a lot of things so I could do my job very well. She didn’t expect excellence but the way she motivated me brought out the excellence in me. My colleagues were very helpful. They were so approachable that you can just stop by their classroom door and throw them a question that confuses you. School staff were amazing too! They were very warm and accommodating. They would not fail to show a big smile everyday to make your day great. All these things made me feel good about myself as a teacher. I appreciated all their efforts to Help me learn all the things i need in order to contribute meaningfully to the School. Not to mention, parents were great too! They were very supportive and provides all the Assistance i need to make my Class successful. Our School district, all of them there from the Superintendent down to all the offices and Departments perform their duties very well. They provide helpful trainings to teachers. This is the first time I have experienced to see a Superintendent who doesn’t mind his position. He comes inside observing classes but not intimidating. He enjoys, He sings, He laughs with the kids. They were all amazing! Literally, I saw in front of my waking eyes what the saying “ It takes a Village to raise a Child”. My experience was first hand and it developed me naturally. I understood what it is like to be a teacher. Enjoying the job and counting yourself in and sharing what you have because you are motivated. I am just in my first year but I can already say that Teaching Rocks!
The best page in book of life
May 06, 2020by: Lecar Marie Maghanoy - PhilippinesThis is the moment where I considered my self as a blessed person for I have captured victory. All my life I am dreaming of teaching not just in my country but also internationally and most of all here in USA. Being a teacher here in California is one of my greatest achievements. To mold and touch someone's life in a different culture and background is like a sun in the solar system. You hold the planets together and keep them going.

I had a great teaching experience.
May 04, 2020by: Ma. Elizabeth Mangaron - PhilippinesI enjoyed teaching experience so much here in Las Vegas because of the great students I had, cool and supportive administrators and learning strategies, approachable and friendly fellow teachers and colleagues. I knew and proved that there are people who are willing to spend their time to help and support me all the way down. I have found a family as a whole. I am also well compensated that's why I give to my family everything they need. I feel safe at home where I stay because the community is very peaceful. These experiences ultimately shaped who I am. There are some important things I have ever learned from living and teaching here in the United States of America.
The great experience ever!
May 04, 2020by: Corazon Gatbonton - PhilippinesThis Teachers Exchange program gives me a lot of opportunities and expand my horizons. It helps me to explore the world and taught me a lot about life and gives me the opportunity to understand and experience other's culture. It gives light to our family back in the Philippines as well. I shall say I am so greatful being a part of this AAG program.

In my career with The Ritz-Carlton recruiting has also been one of my main responsibilities: actively looking for talent, developing current talent through mentorship and training, and maintaining relationships with former colleagues. Although AAG is not a hotel, the same principles apply here. Finding great talent internationally that we can nurture and mentor for an incredible placement. We maintain constant contact with the students during their program and build long lasting friendships.

I chose to work abroad because I was at a major crossroads in my life. I had just finished college, obtaining a degree that I no longer wanted to pursue in the professional world, but I was not sure what else I could do. I knew that I wanted to travel, but financially could not just travel for several months alone. I decided working abroad was my only option. Luckily, I had a few years of serving experience and hospitality is one of the top industries for young people to work in abroad.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
The short version is I love traveling, and I love helping over people discover a new place. The long version would be that I really connected with my Enrollment Coordinator, we live in the same city now and hang out all the time! While she was traveling around Oz she stopped in to see how things were going with my job placement, and we got to talking about our aspirations in life. One of my biggest life goals is to someday run a global exchange office at a university. Basically, she told me that her visa was up soon and the job she was doing for AAG was really similar to what I wanted to do. She said she’d talk to her boss about hiring me to replace her when her visa ran out. I thought no way was this actually going to happen, but when I called her about a month before her visa was up she said I should come into the office and interview. I got the job in the Melbourne office, and when my visa ran out they transferred me back to the HQ in Austin, TX. It’s funny how things turn out!

The reason why I choose to work abroad is because I wanted to see the world while working at the same time. I had just graduated from The Arts Institute of Las Vegas and my lease was up, so I took it as a sign. Plus, I was that person who was always spontaneous, if I could move to Las Vegas not knowing anyone, then that means I could do the same in another country. I also wanted to work abroad because I knew that it would look awesome on my resume and would give me that extra advantage on my competitors. But bottom line, I didn’t want to be stuck in the USA bubble and wanted to see the world.

I was chatting with a friend through playing ultimate frisbee together and she told me there was an opportunity to get involved with a fun and exciting job to do with travel, working abroad, and networking with people all around Australia – I jumped at the chance! I loved being a participant and working in Co-operative Education back home in Canada, and thought that this was a fantastic opportunity to also encourage others to broaden their skill set while working and living like a local abroad.

I was looking to go on my first big international trip as I started to realized I wasn't getting any younger and the timing was either now or never. The idea of working abroad wasn't really much of thought, until I started to do research on some on some of the best ways to completely immerse yourself inside a country's culture.
