Spend a semester or academic year in Rome with AIFS Abroad. Earn up to 17 credits through the International Internship Program at Fairfield University. No previous Italian language study is required. Your program begins with a 1-week language and cultural orientation to acclimate to life in Italy. Internships are available in: • Art • Art History • Business • Communications • Design and Media • Economics • Education • Film Studies • Finance • Food Studies • History • International Business • International Relations • Management and Tourism • Marketing • Museum Studies • Political Science • Social Science Live in an Italian homestay or a shared student apartment. An excellent meal plan is included with both options. You'll enjoy numerous social and cultural activities, including: • 3-day excursion to Sorrento, Naples, Pompeii and Capri • 3-days in Florence • Day trip to Assisi and the Umbria region Optional excursions include three days in Palermo, Sicily.

I had an amazing experience at AIFS! AIFS provided everything we needed to have a great experience here in Rome. Our classes were engaging and fun. A big pro of the program was the meal swipes and grocery gift cards! We were able to travel all over Europe and have the best new experiences. I would recommend this program!!
Below is my review for the semester program, as I've done the AIFS Rome program twice. Once just for classes, and once for an Internship First Time Review:I understand that study abroad being life changing is a cliche and I used to roll my eyes at it too! But then I did it, twice, both times through AIFS in Rome and I can truly say my life is changed. I went from a shy introvert who longed to go home after being home sick for 2 days, to suddenly someone with many friends and a new zest for life and desire to explore. The classes were scheduled to fit well with allowing for cultural out of classroom learning and the on site staff made you comfortable and were so welcoming. My experience was so incredible the first time, that immediately upon getting back to my home university, I worked hard with my academic counselor to make going back a possibility. I then returned to do an internship and grew even more. I cannot recommend this program enough! Internship Review: I was placed at the Embassy of Malta to Italy and was elated! This was a perfect fit for my interests and major! I was able to attend UN Meetings and meet ambassadors and learned so much! The program staff and intern coordinator helped us find a work/social balance with other students, and it was an incredible semester that flew by!

Minimum of 2.75 GPA
Students must apply for a visa with the Italian Consulate. Upon acceptance, AIFS will provide instructions and the necessary official documents required to obtain a student visa; however, students must contact the Italian Consulate directly for the appropriate visa forms. You may visit the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs for further information.
