Study abroad in the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador with AIFS Abroad and turn one of the world’s most famous ecosystems into your classroom. This January Term program through Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) lets students earn 3 semester credits in Environmental Science while exploring the islands that helped shape Charles Darwin’s understanding of the natural world.
The Galápagos Islands offer an incredible setting to study ecosystems, biodiversity and conservation firsthand. Learn how the islands were formed, examine the plants and animals that call them home, and explore the environmental challenges facing the archipelago today. Visits and field experiences are an important part of the program, giving you opportunities to connect what you’re studying with the places and wildlife around you.
Your AIFS Abroad experience extends across Ecuador, with time in Quito as well as San Cristóbal and Santa Cruz Islands. Past activities have included snorkeling at Kicker Rock, visiting giant tortoises at La Galapaguera, spotting sea lions and marine iguanas at La Lobería, and visiting the Charles Darwin Research Station.
AIFS Abroad programs in the Galápagos Islands include tuition, hotel accommodations, many meals, cultural activities, excursions, comprehensive insurance, on-site support and 24/7 emergency assistance.
Whether you study environmental science or simply want to better understand the natural world, studying abroad in the Galápagos gives you the chance to earn college credit while learning about biodiversity and conservation in the places you’re studying.
