Before using a travel eSIM on your mobile device, make sure your device is unlocked and not restricted to your primary carrier (check how to confirm this) and that your device supports eSIM functionality (see the list of eSIM-compatible devices).

Our travel eSIM provides data-only service, meaning it doesn't include a local phone number for calls or text messages. However, you can still use your favorite apps such as FaceTime, WhatsApp, iMessage, Messenger, and others to stay connected while traveling.

You can install your eSIM on your device at any time before your departure. The setup process takes just a few minutes and requires a Wi-Fi connection. However, the eSIM will only activate once you're at your destination and within your selected service dates. Once you arrive, be sure to enable "Data Roaming" for your travel eSIM to function properly.

Once you select your trip dates, you'll have a range of data packages to choose from. Although data usage ultimately depends on how much you plan on connecting to apps and using the internet, here are some general guidelines to help you choose the right eSIM data package for your trip based on the duration: 1GB (for 1-3 days), 2GB (for 3-5 days), 3GB-5GB (for 5-9 days), 5GB-8GB (for 9-12 days), 8GB-20GB (for 12+ days). If you happen to use up your data during your trip, don't worry; you can always purchase more data or a brand new eSIM as needed.

To help conserve your travel data, we recommend setting background app refresh to "Wi-Fi only." To do so, for iPhone users, follow these steps: Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh, then choose "Wi-Fi" only at the top of the screen.
