What inspired you to join the team at Abraham Hostels and Tours?

I love travelling, backpacking, and the hostel mindset. I was looking for a workplace that can challenge and excite me, a place that I would be happy to go to every morning and that’s exactly what I found in Abraham Hostels & Tours.

Me at my happiest - while traveling (this time in Cape Town - one of my all time favorite places to visit)

You recently transitioned from the Receptionist & Guest Relations Manager to your current role as the HR Recruiter. What lessons do you carry over from your experience in your first role with Abraham Hostels?

I truly believe in the importance of starting from the bottom and working your way up. As an HR recruiter I understand the positions I recruit for a lot more because I have done them myself. While my current role focuses on employees and organizational processes, my first role was more focused on our clients, the guests, and their experience here. This helps me look at the bigger picture now and understand things from a broader point of view.

Describe a typical day/week of work for you.

Email corresponding with lots of candidates, Skype interviews, on-site interviews, meetings with different department managers, leading and organizing different organizational projects and, of course, always finding the time to break out of the busy schedule for a friendly chat with coworkers and guests.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Continuous learning, working with many different departments and people, working with great people that I enjoy spending time with.

Israel has some of the most beautiful and unique desert scenery in the world, I'm grateful I get to enjoy it so often

Why should travelers choose to stay with Abraham Hostels in Tel Aviv, Israel?

Besides the amazing location, high cleaning standard, great service and facilities, we also have amazing tours, activities and events happening daily, and most of all - we have wonderful people working here who care and do their best to make sure everybody is having a great time.

What makes Tel Aviv, and Israel as a whole, a great destination for traveling?

Great food, great weather, great people, lots of history, lots of nightlife and culture, it’s perfect for any type of traveller. Never met anyone who didn’t love it.

You welcome volunteers to help with work at Abraham Hostels. Can you tell us what prospective volunteers can expect during their stay?

Lots of interactions with people from different countries and cultures, experiencing the hostel life from a different point of view, which means also getting to know the challenges and hard work of the hostel staff. Of course there is the fun aspect of the hostel life as well - taking part in hostel activities, going on tours around the country, socialising and making great friends and memories. In addition, experiencing the country more like a local, not only visiting the sites but also living here and feeling the day to day vibe.

How does your background in Psychology and Organizational Behavioral Studies influence your work today?

My work in HR requires lots of people skills and empathy, understanding how people feel and behave, this is something very familiar to me from my psychology studies. Also, when looking more at the organizational point of view, the HR department works with all the different departments and must always think of what's good for the company as well as the workers - this is the ultimate balance of HR and it fits perfectly with my academic interests - OBD and psychology.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

Meeting new people, learning about different cultures and immersing in them. Trying new things, leaving your comfort zone, and admiring nature and history. Spreading love and positivity along the way.

What hopes do you have for the future of Abraham Hostels and Tours?

Keep growing to international proportions, and becoming an internationally recognized company that is famous for the quality of hostels and tours.

Are there any new programs or tours that Abraham Hostels is offering that our readers should know about?

We have new tours all the time, new hostels that we plan to open in this coming year in Eilat (the most southern city of Israel on the cost of the red sea) and concerts and activities non-stop. Come visit!

To expand my horizon, get to know other cultures, challenge myself and my views— that's always been my thing. And my curiosity is never-ending. Since 2015, I have traveled solo around the world, and have made great connections that go beyond borders, religion, colors.
