What inspired you to go abroad?
I already have some experience working in Sweden and a reasonable competence of the language, but I wanted to further improve my language skills and get deeper insights into current developments in the Swedish society.
Why did you choose Uppsala International Summer Session (UISS)?
There are very few programmes that allow you to study Swedish on such an advanced level.

Trip to Dalarna with UISS
What is the best part about studying at Uppsala?
With Uppsala International Summer Session, you will be fully integrated into student life in Uppsala. For the time you stay in Uppsala you will have excellent opportunities to explore the "student only" student nations.
What made your experience abroad unique?
The combination of a high competence of the teachers leads you to good results. The personal touch to the programme is that you will not only study, but that there also plentiful opportunities to socialize.
How did local staff support you throughout your program?
My teacher Linda did her best work with me on my challenges - no standard programme, but highly adapted - and with a personal touch.
Describe a typical day in the life of your program.
You start with language classes in the morning and then have lunch together in one of the restaurants that have agreements with UISS. In the afternoon, you get deeper insights into current cultural or political issues in Sweden. In the evenings, there are organized events or you can go out on your own.
What did you enjoy doing in your free time?
It is great to mingle with the Swedish students in the student nations.
What's one thing you wish you would have done differently?
I stayed for only three weeks - but you can stay longer!
What was your accommodation like? What did you like best about it?
The student residence used to be a hotel, so the accommodation is actually hotel grade. There were well furnished rooms each with its own toilet/shower and kitchenette. It was also centrally located, less than 10 minutes walk to the UISS programme, the city center, or the central railway station of Uppsala.
What is one thing every participant should know before participating in your program?
Be prepared for an intense time in Uppsala, and to be very sad when you will have to leave!
Now that you're home, how has your program abroad impacted your life?
New competencies and new friendships!
Would you recommend your program to others? Why?
I can recommend the programme basically to everybody wanting to improve their Swedish skills or to learn about politics and culture in Sweden!
