Volunteer support in the field of healthcare can be of tremendous value. Volunteers working in the Healthcare program work in medical clinics and community hospitals which are short of staff and in need of volunteers.

Volunteers also work with organizations who are working for HIV Prevention and provide support for people living with HIV/AIDS. As a volunteer in this program you will work in clinic for the HIV affected patients and also in medical clinics catering to patients from poor urban villages in the city of Delhi.

The medical clinics mainly provide outpatient services and immunization programs for people from the poor urban villages in the capital city.

The program is particularly suited for medical students and medical professionals such as nurses and doctors.

Project Location
The project placements are located in the capital city of Delhi. Some placements are located in semi urban areas within the city. The placements are in close proximity to the accommodations.

Language & Orientation Week in Delhi
You have the option to start your volunteering with a week-long language & culture orientation week in New Delhi. (Starts 1st and 3rd Monday of every month). The week aims to provide important Language instructions, safety tips, and cultural knowledge before volunteers start their work. Volunteers would also be given a 2 day tour around Delhi to see the beautiful sights it has to offer.

What we provide
Airport Receive/ Transfer: Volunteers are picked up from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi by the local staff or coordinator. Those volunteers who will be already in India will be met by the staff at the bus/railway station or at a meeting point decided beforehand.

Orientation: A half day orientation will be provided by our staff. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc. Start your volunteering experience by taking the 1 week language & culture orientation week in Delhi.

Lodging: Accommodation is provided with a local Indian host family. Volunteers are provided their own private room or it is shared with other volunteers.

Food: Volunteers are served with 2 Indian meals (Breakfast and dinner) daily. Typical meals provided include Dal (Lentils) Curry, Rice, Vegetables, Salad and Roti (Indian Bread). Volunteers can purchase bottled water from the local markets although filtered water is available in the accommodations.

Insurance: All participants are covered for full comprehensive Travel and Medical insurance for their time of stay in our project. To view a copy of the Insurance Coverage provided, please check our website.

In-Country travel assistance: Volunteers are assisted by the local staff and coordinators for any kind of assistance they need for their travel arrangements.

In-country support: 24 hours support provided by our local staff. You will be provided with the contact details of the local coordinator and staff who will be contactable 24 hrs once you are in country.

Pre-departure information: After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program. The Pre Departure Information Booklet provides the complete details of the country, project locations, Visas, Immunizations, Things to Pack list, Accommodations, Contact Information etc.

During your Free Time
During the free time volunteers can visit the local markets, visit internet cafes and the different restaurants in Delhi.Volunteers visit different restaurants and try out the different Indian cuisines. During weekends volunteers visit the neighboring states of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

Qualifications

Volunteers must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the program. All volunteers joining the program need to have some medical certification or should be a medical student.

There is no educational requirement for this project; anyone with a heart to help is welcome on this project! However proficiency in English is required. Affordable options starting at USD 250 only!
