What inspired you to get involved with Volunteering Solutions?

My goal is to build a life I don’t need a vacation from." - Robert Hill

This quote was the inspiration behind me getting involved with Volunteering Solutions.

Why do you think Volunteering Solutions is unique, both in its approach to volunteer management and volunteer projects?

Namrata in Nepal

Traveling in Nepal

We take utmost care of our volunteers and all our programs are designed in such a way that volunteers can have a meaningful travel and volunteering experience. At the same time, they can connect with the culture, history, and living conditions of the local people. At the end of the day, they are satisfied.

As the Customer Experience Manager, what does a typical day of work look like for you?

A normal day would be helping interested volunteers decide the perfect program and destination, and then providing them with an incredible travel and volunteer experience. I make sure all the necessary details/documents are received from volunteers so that they do not face any issues during their travels.

How do you help prepare volunteers for their experiences abroad with Volunteering Solutions?

Informing them about the safety precautions documents they should carry, things to pack, vaccinations, visa information, and also suggesting places they should visit.

What type of on-the-ground support do volunteers have throughout their program?

We have country coordinators and staff in every country, who provide 24 hour assistance and support to all volunteers.

You currently live in New Delhi. What is advice do you give to volunteers preparing to volunteer in India specifically?

Namrata at the office of Volunteering Solutions

At the office

India is a country of diverse cultures and practices, and Delhi, being the capital city, is home to varied ethnicities. I always inform the participants to follow the safety guidelines specified by the project coordinator and listen to them about the dos and don'ts in India.

What makes you passionate about international volunteering?

Volunteering not only teaches us the value of life, but also makes us learners and observers. It compels us to think about everything that is right and wrong with the world. It shows us just how beautiful this world can be, even when you think there’s just no hope.

Why do you enjoy working for Volunteering Solutions?

It helps me connect with people and its mission is simple: "Wherever we go, whatever we do, let's make it the best it can be for everyone."

If you could join any of Volunteering Solutions placements around the world, which one would you choose and why?

I would like to join all the placements, as each program is different and there is no end to the learning. I can’t join the medical programs though.

I had already done a private internship at an orphanage in Eritrea from 2010 till 2011. I was born and raised up in Germany, but my parents come from Eritrea. So, I decided I wanted to do an internship in my "home"country. That's also why it was not as big deal of a deal for me to go abroad. For ...
