Are you looking for a dental elective as a requirement for your studies or a volunteer trip to enhance your dentistry skills? Elective Africa offers a customized program in Kenya and Tanzania, giving participants relevant experience in the developing world. The health system in a developing country is characterized by inadequate resources in human capital, diagnosis, and treatment technology. These enable volunteers/interns to gain exposure to how dentists manage to deliver oral healthcare despite limited resources. Through shadowing and supervised hands-on experience from professionals in Africa, program participants are placed in various dentistry departments to engage in relevant activities. They are expected to gain a deeper understanding of this unique health system, different from what they are accustomed to. Interns must be pre-med or medical students, while volunteers must be medical professionals.
