CIS - Study at Victoria University of Wellington

Share |

Location: Wellington: New Zealand

Term: Fall, Spring, Academic Year

Dates: Fall: July - November; Spring: late February - June

  • Description

Victoria University of Wellington consists of four campuses, three of which are all within 10 minutes walk of each other in the city. Sitting in the center of New Zealand's scenic harbor capital, Victoria's main Kelburn campus enjoys an idyllic setting. Its elevated position not only commands stunning views, but also removes you from the hustle and bustle of the inner city, while placing you just a few minutes walk from the city center.

The curriculum is traditional but innovative, and includes excellence in both teaching and research in more than 80 academic degree areas. During your semester abroad you will choose subjects from the following areas of study: Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Commerce and Administration, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Faculty of Science.

  • Highlights

Victoria's academic year is divided into three trimesters, each lasting four months. The first two trimesters, late-February to June and July to November, are the main teaching periods that are most convenient to study abroad students.

At Victoria, each course is named a "paper" and, generally, you will take three papers per trimester (approximately 12 to 16 U.S. credits). For each paper you have approximately two to three 50-minute lectures per week, in addition to smaller tutorials. At Victoria you can choose subjects from the following areas of study: Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Commerce and Administration, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Architecture and Design and the Faculty of Science.
