Since 1963, Volunteers in Asia (VIA) has been maintaining its aid and teaching in Asia and Silicon Valley, California, as a nonprofit organization promoting development to both community and volunteers in language and culture, service learning, and healthcare. We aim to make life-changing immersions and undo all barriers. With more than 2,000 volunteers traveling to extend a helping hand to 16 regions in Asia, VIA offers different kinds of programs, from short-term to long-term and from summer to spring break, such as Global Community Fellowship for a year, Culture and Social Impact in Indonesia, Leadership and Sustainability in China, and other tailored programs. We also have programs for participants from Asia who want to help in California, such as Language and Cultural Exploration, Social Innovation and Design-Thinking, Culture and Innovation in Healthcare, and many more customized programs. Whatever the purpose is in joining us, we assure you that you will have a wider perspective of the world and be able to know the real reason behind volunteering.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I wanted to work for an organization that 1) was involved in international education, 2) had a strong social mission, 3) encouraged and enabled their staff to be creative, and 3) had some connection to Asia.
