About Volungo Abroad
Volungo Abroad is a nonprofit organization that connects international volunteers with grassroots initiatives across Latin America. But we’re not just a matchmaking platform, we’re a movement built on trust, collaboration, and long-term impact.
We partner with local NGOs doing essential work in their communities, from education and environmental conservation to human rights and community development. Our role is to amplify their voices, support their efforts, and bring the right people to the right causes.
Every volunteer journey starts with listening. We value humility, presence, and real contribution, not voluntourism or charity performances. Our programs are grounded in mutual respect and meaningful exchange, with a minimum stay of four weeks to ensure you truly become part of the process.
We believe volunteering abroad should be a two-way street: you help build something real, and you come back changed.

Why do I have to pay to volunteer?
Volunteering with us isn’t about “buying” an experience, it’s about sustaining one. Your contribution helps organizations in Latin America keep their projects alive. These local NGOs don’t have the resources to manage volunteers, logistics, or promote their causes globally. Your payment supports their work, covers your accommodation, ensures coordination, and gives you access to a safe, and meaningful project, one where you’ll truly be needed.
What makes Volungo Abroad different from other volunteers experience?
We go beyond placement. Volungo Abroad exists to amplify local voices, not overshadow them. We carefully build relationships with community-based NGOs that are already creating impact, we just help bring people like you to their side. You're not just showing up as a change maker, you’re stepping into a living network of people solving real challenges together.
What kind of support can I expect before and during my experience?
From the moment you apply to the day you return home, you’re not alone. We guide you through every step. Once you're in-country, a local coordinator will be there to support you, answer questions, and help you integrate into the community. We also make sure that your host organization is prepared, safe, and aligned with international standards, so you can focus on what matters: learning, connecting, and making a real difference.
