Program Overview

Join Travel For Teens on this journey to Japan, the Land of The Rising Sun. Japan is a country of ancient cultures, strong traditions, and the technology of the future. Perform meaningful community service in Tohno – an area devastated by the 2011 Tsunami. You will enjoy a cultural exchange with teens from a local high school, spend a day in the rice fields, and get to know the people who call Tohno home.

In addition to our service work, you will visit the evocative sites of Hiroshima, try your hand at the ancient art of karate, taste the best sushi of your life, and experience the scramble at the world-famous Shibuya crossing. From the flashy cityscape of Tokyo to the peaceful temples of Kyoto and the majesty of Mt. Fuji, Japan will astonish even the most well-traveled students.

An Unforgettable Adventure in Japan!

This trip was unforgettable! It offered an incredible blend of cultural immersion and fun activities, making every moment meaningful. I loved exploring Tokyo’s lively streets and experiencing the peaceful beauty of Kyoto. One of the most unique parts of the trip was visiting Miyagi, where we connected with high school students and learned about their traditions. The staff was amazing, ensuring every day was engaging and safe. From karate to sushi-making, this trip left me with new friends, lasting memories, and a deep respect for Japan’s culture.

The days that you wish lasted for ever but go to soon

I had I amazing time while I as in Japan and our guides were a lot of fun to talk to. My favorite part was the country side by far, the land scape was gorgeous. The rooms we stayed out were amazing especially the hot spring. The food situation was nice, we had some free days ( we went to a mall or store and got to choose the place) and days where we had group dinners and it was a great experience. 100% recommend this trip.

A memorable experience

I had so much fun on the japan trip. Not only did I enjoyed the food and beautiful views, I also learned about Japanese culture. It was an amazing experience, and I’m so glad I chose to travel with TFT. I loved the local food and my favorite the part was taking pictures in yukata!

Worth it!

I had been wanting to go to japan for years prior and getting the chance to go and be fully immersed was amazing! We got to walk through a national forest and see a beautiful waterfall that I wouldn't have even thought to do. We also went to the Studio Ghibli Museum and got to experience city life but also get out of the crowds and go to towns farther out. I got pushed so far out of my comfort zone that I wouldn't have allowed myself to do if I decided to go to Japan by myself on my own terms. I would go back on this trip in a heartbeat. It was so much fun and I got to meet such amazing people. Truly is something that you should do if given the chance.

An unforgettable experience

Traveling with TFT has been the most character building experience that I have done. Through out the entire trip, I was pushed to leave my comfort zone; and I grew into a far stronger person than I was before the trip. Some of most memorable moments I had during this trip, that I grew the most from were: when we interviewed the lady who witnessed the bombing of Hiroshima, the tea ceremonies, the trip to Hakone and Tono, and just talking to the natives of Japan. All of these experiences helped through the darkest times of my life, and I will continue to reflect of these moments as I continue to evolve. Thank you for the life changing experiences

Japan discovery and service

This trip was an amazing experience! I love all the pictures from this trip. It was well-organized but had enough flexibility that we had some free time to shop. The service portion of this trip was excellent. We got to form lifelong friendships with students at a Japanese school and work for relief victims in the beautiful northern plains of Japan!
