Program Overview

Discover what it’s like to live on island time. Spend your summer snorkeling and diving in the crystal-clear waters of South Caicos, studying rays, turtles, brilliantly colored fish, and other marine life—face to face. This fundamentals course focuses on environmental issues and policies affecting marine ecosystems and communities. You’ll study these issues within the context of South Caicos while building the skills needed to conduct marine research.

SFS students live and study at the Center for Marine Resource Studies. The Center is a small, converted hotel overlooking the crystalline waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Spectacular sunsets, open-air facilities, warm sunshine, and a refreshing ocean breeze define the marine station. A five-minute walk brings you to the small, historic town of Cockburn Harbour, where students and faculty frequently engage with the community in South Caicos.
