Help Teach Math in Primary and Junior High Schools in Ghana
This program is designed for volunteers to teach math lessons in primary and junior high schools in rural and semi-rural communities in Ghana based on the Ghana Education Curriculum. It suits individuals who want to volunteer to teach during a gap year, summer placement, or career break. This curriculum is designed to help children: • Develop basic ideas of quantity and space. • Use basic mathematics and necessary strategies for solving problems encountered in daily life by recognizing relationships between numbers. • Communicate effectively using mathematical terms and symbols. • Use appropriate instruments for various systems of measurement. • Reason logically by selecting and applying criteria for clarification and generalization. As a math teaching volunteer, you will provide an engaging classroom within a multi-cultural and community-centered environment for learning and growing with children. Volunteers will provide students with instructions on an array of math-related subjects. There is no specific qualification required to join the project. Volunteers should be flexible, open-minded, proactive, and passionate about working with children.
