Construction of the school

I had the chance to spend some time in 2021 with Seth, Naomi and the children. That was a beautiful experience that i would highly recommend to anyone. I have participated in construction, in building some walls of new classrooms of the school.

The St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation is a very heartwarming project. I was there for a month, and it clearly had an impact on how I see life. The kids are full of joy, and everybody is just spreading love and energy. One day after I arrived, the kids already started shouting my name when I passed by and wanted me to wave or just say „hi“. But not only the kids, also the teachers were wonderful! Even though the teaching in Ghana is rougher than where I am from, the love within the teaching is undoubted. The kids love the teachers, and so do the teachers love the kids! Events like running competitions, quizzes, or just dancing and making music are making it visible how much of a family the whole project is.  Nevertheless, it is obvious that the project needs all of the help it can get. The project does not have enough money at all. The hosts have to skip meals, teachers can’t get paid regularly, the few books they have are not up to date, workbooks have to be written and drawn by the teachers, and the whole project relies on donations.  And even though the hosts are struggling, they do everything they can to make it the best experience for the volunteers. If there had been a problem, I easily could have told Seth and Naomi (the host family). I think what describes the bonding between the couple and their volunteers the best is that they remember every single volunteer. Their name, where they are from, and what they did in the project. Even after years and years of volunteers.  If you really want to help to change something, this project is the perfect place. It's not about profit; it's about having an impact and changing something in the system. I worked in construction and helped in teaching, and I loved both so, so much. It doesn't matter in what kind of field you want to help; construction, teaching, social work, health care, sports stuff, and so on... I know that the St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation is going to make it the best experience that they could give you.

teaching, vaccinations, running competition and pure love ?just some examples of what the construction looked like ??the book conditions and seth writing a whole story on the board, because they can't afford the actual books :/

My Best Volunteering Experience

From the first day, their welcoming and warmth towards me have been nothing but clear. Whether it be guiding through Ghanaian culture or teaching construction, they have made more sacrifices than I can count to make sure their volunteers (including me) got a wonderful experience. Having been there 6 weeks, I got the opportunity to experience both construction and the children. Beyond academics, the environment there is better than anything you could imagine. Whilst life is simple, the community, rooted in brotherhood and love, made it pass so much quicker and enjoyable. Really, my time there zoomed through. I would like to also mention how amazing the impact of this project is. By proving food, education, and shelter to underprivileged kids in a rural setting, you really make a difference. Seth always likes to mention how volunteers are the backbone of the organization, and while this is true, none of this could have happened without his and Naomi’s endless dedication. If there is ANY project I could recommend for volunteers, this is the one if you want to make a true difference.
