CELTA is the globally-recognised initial Cambridge teacher training course for those who want to teach English as a foreign language. It enables you to travel the world and enjoy an exciting and rewarding career. Whether you wish to teach in the UK or abroad, you will expand your horizons by meeting people from a wide variety of different cultures and backgrounds.

CELTA at St Clare’s is an intensive, 4-week, full-time, face-to-face course. You learn how to plan different types of lesson (e.g. grammar, reading, vocabulary) and practise teaching real students. You teach 8 lessons, which are each 45 minutes long. You also produce 4 written assignments, to a maximum of 1,000 words each.

The course takes place in the Teacher Training Hub – a specialist space, that includes a well-stocked library. Printers and photocopiers are available for use across the campus, and our ICT department supports trainees throughout the course. A unique feature of our CELTA is the provisional of lunch, in our high-quality dining hall. The chefs cater for all dietary requirements, and there are a wide range of dishes to choose from. Lunch Monday-Friday is included in the price of the course.
