Spanish Work Exchange Programme

I am more than happy with my internship organized by Spanish Work Exchange Programme. I had the best 3 months of my life on Tenerife. I did my internship in the public relations department in a 5 star hotel. The organisation was very quick. I was a bit late contacting s-w-e-p but they have been able to organise everything in less than 4 weeks. Paperwork continued after my arrival, I had to apply for my NIE Number and my social security number. Not an easy thing to do when you are alone on the island but s-w-e-p and other s-w-e-p interns in the hotel helped me to get all papers done the very next day. My tasks in public relations have been the same as I expected because I received beforehand a job description. Sometimes it was a bit challenging getting satisfied the hotel guests. It happened that one guest complaints about something which another guest really likes. I learned that it is impossible for a hotel to satisfy all guests. For me it was very important to learn about the hotel business because I am studying tourism management and after my first experience in that field I know that I will work in hotels in my future.

I am studying Business Administration at the University of Munich and I wanted to get some work experience in the Human Resources field in Spain. I searched online and I decided to do a hotel internship on Tenerife because the program offered free accommodation and meals. My internship with Spanish Work Exchange Programme has been excellent, therefore, I like to thank the whole s-w-e-p team for their dedication to organise all these internships for students. We have been 4 interns in the same hotel which made it easy to get in touch from the first day, we had a very good time together and we were able to explore the surroundings on weekends. I was the only intern in the HR Department and I enjoyed working in a small team. I also liked the island and I hope that other interns will get so much out of such a hotel work placement in Spain as I did. After finishing my studies I will go back to Tenerife.

September 2016 I moved to the Netherlands to study in Hotelschool the Hague and lived there until recently. First year on dorms and the second year I moved in with friends. During my studies I also had 6-months internship in Tenerife without speaking Spanish and was able to arrange place to live and all documents needed. Afterwards I became fluent in Spanish.
