Everything I had hoped for and more

When I arrived at the shelter it was amazing being greeted by so many dogs. There are quite a few that have lost legs and they hop around happily. The course itself was so fun, the trainer is very relaxed and teaches in a very laid back way. Always answering your questions. The time with the dogs was great, I’ve never owned a dog and it was really heart warming getting to know them all. We picked a few dogs each and taught them to walk with us and jump over the obstacles. We went to the beach with them , visited cafes and I learnt so much. I wish I had signed up for longer. I will miss my doggie friends.

Unforgettable experience with lovable dogs!

This course was a great experience. I learned a lot about training dogs and getting along with many different dogs, as well as dog behaviors in different situations. The trainer was really pleasant and knowledgeable. The dogs were also really nice and lovable, we trained them at the shelter and on the beaches. I highly recommend this if you want to do good for these dogs, and develop your skills with dogs at the same time.

Fantastic Experience

I spent a brilliant two weeks learning to train doggies with Soi Dogs in Pattaya. I had such a great time, the dogs were lovely, and I met some great people too. I learned a lot of skills that I can apply to training my own dog now I'm back. Plus, it was really nice to actually DO something rather than my usual holiday activity of just sitting around on the beach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to all the most common questions about Second Chance Dog Shelter.

Do I need any prior experience with dogs to join ?

No , all the courses are suitable for anyone with a love of dogs. We take you through everything every step of the way. We have had several experienced dog trainers take the course to learn our methods and to work with shelter dogs more.

What kind of dogs will I work with during the course ?

All the dogs will be from the shelter. There will be a mixture of abled and disabled dogs for you to choose from. Large dogs or small dogs. Our priority is always safety so we won't put you with dogs that are a risk.

What Skills will I learn in the training ?

We will teach obedience skills that are commonly required by our clients, so leash walking , sit, stay, lay down and a recall. Then there will be things more for fun like a spin. We use the agility equipment to build confidence, but also to teach the students lessons and principles of dog training.

How long is the course and can I choose a shorter or longer duration ?

The courses are 2-6 weeks. We can't do shorter than 2 weeks as there would be no time to teach what we need you to know. You of course can stay longer than 6 weeks if that was your wish. There is always something to learn as a dog trainer.

Can I bring my own dog to the course ?

This may be possible but its something we would need to discuss individually.
