The School the World Honduras program takes high school students from across the United States to a rural community in southern Honduras for one week of hands-on service. Participants help build a school from the ground up, contributing directly to a community that will use it for generations. The program is as much about connection as it is about construction. Throughout the week, students form genuine relationships with local schoolchildren, teachers, and families who open their doors and their community to the group. At the end of the project, everyone comes together for a community celebration marking what was built together. Before heading home, participants close out the trip with a beach day alongside the full School the World group, a chance to reflect and recharge after a meani...
Program Highlights
Stay in fully vetted hotels selected and approved by School the World's local staff.
Travel safely in screened, School the World-operated vans with an average 45-minute commute to each community.
Travel with a dedicated U.S. or local nurse on-site at all times, with a medical doctor on call throughout the entire trip.
Connect with local students, teachers, and families through shared meals, school visits, and community time throughout the week.
Celebrate the finished project with a community event marking the impact of the group's work together.
