After the COVID-19 pandemic reshaped the world, I took time to reflect on the next direction in my life. As global travel gradually resumed, I decided to pursue a TEFL certification as a meaningful way to combine education, cultural exchange, and international work. After researching several programs, I chose SLS Pattaya in Thailand due to its strong reputation and practical teaching focus. Before enrolling, I had the opportunity to speak directly with the director, Paul Lambert, whose guidance was invaluable. He took the time to understand my individual background and provided thoughtful advice prior to my arrival. I arrived in Pattaya shortly before the course began and quickly found myself part of a supportive and collaborative group of classmates from Ireland, France, and India. Our instructor was highly experienced and created a professional yet encouraging learning environment that helped us quickly meet the program’s standards. One of the most valuable aspects of the course was its emphasis on practical teaching. By the third week, we were already teaching students in a reputable school setting, working with learners ranging from young children to teenagers. This real classroom experience greatly strengthened our confidence and teaching ability. Completing the certification was both rewarding and bittersweet. I remain deeply grateful to SLS Pattaya and proud to be associated with such a dedicated and supportive institution.

My TEFL course experience was unforgettable. Even though it was a short period of time, I was able to meet wonderful classmates, met perfect instructor, and was able to widen my views in teaching. I was the youngest in the class at the time, but classmates interacted with me as a grown-up trainee, not a child. Also i was able to exchange various culture within the course since my classmates were diverse. Within the practical teaching, I was able to experience the real teaching environment, which made me love teaching even more. Overall, I absolutely recommend this course to anyone whose willing to teach abroad, with full of diverse environment, fantastic trainers and perfect environment for practicing teaching.

Very Friendly staff who really do want to help you on your way to becoming a certified Tefl teacher. Books and folder for printouts and worksheet provided as are board markers, post it notes etc. The tutors walk you through the teaching framework and how (and why) you use it. Grammer is walked through and explained as are a variety of teaching techniques which you are encouraged to use for different age groups. Practical teaching is carried out at a local school and help is provided for lesson content, structure and review. This is absolutely worth its weight in gold as you learn quickly how to fit your teaching content into the framework and teach a class of students a topic in 60 minutes. If you study and work hard it is an extremely rewarding course, Thai language is also covered in some very well laid up lessons that provide some basic phrases you really need to know. Recommended

I am an American living in Thailand. Twenty-years ago I was working in a Cambodian community Stateside. Every door was closed to study ESL. I completed TEFL last Friday! It has changed the trajectory of my future. I did not have confidence in my own English, nevermind teaching it in a classroom, but the dream and desire were deeper than that. The method of teaching TEFL taught at Salisa knocked that thinking right out of my mind. Within two weeks I was teaching English in six classrooms. TEFL Course Dates: Nov-Dec 2023 The Course It's been years since I took up "education" and "teaching" course subjects, so a lot of this knowledge—I’ve forgotten—but somehow the course reactivated what I knew. I greatly appreciate the mix of theory and practice, which made the course interestingly informative as well as appropriately challenging. The “practice teaching” part was the most challenging part—but at the same time, the most important. I’ve learned how to prepare better, and to be more welcoming of surprises—learning to expect the unexpected, I suppose, is part of the teaching process. Having taught for eleven years in a different context, it is easy to misapply what’s proper in that scenario to the “totally” different situation here in Thailand. The course has taught me to acclimate to the current situation as it were. The Instructor Very direct and straightforward for the most part, Cillian himself is a rich resource, and I think most importantly so because he has experiences that he can share—which are practically applicable to different learning-teaching scenarios. His constructive criticisms have been very helpful. And of course, I’m very grateful to all in the SLS team. They’ve all been very kind and helpful. God bless.

The environment of the classroom is very nice and supportive. A lot of the work there is very practical. The teacher, teaches us very patiently. It was easy for me to understand. Teacher gives us very helpful and useful criticism on our presentation, and it really had me improve and excel in the way I practiced teaching to the students.

The Salisa School provided me with a lot of knowledge and experience for someone who had never taught before. I had no previous experience of teaching, let alone in a second language. The course and it's staff were open-minded, inclusive and supportive where I needed it. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to teach in Thailand.

I completed the 120-hour TEFL Course with Salisa Language School. Before graduation, I received a teaching job offer from an established Thai school. Thanks to Paul's mentoring. I completed the 1 month TEFL course at Salisa and it was a great experience! Teachers were of high quality and very helpful. I have lived in Pattaya nearly 3 years and highly recommend the Salisa Language School to anyone considering taking a TEFL course. The 4 week course was intense and very challenging at times but Cillian (Hayes), my instructor, is a very experienced teacher and trainer and was always on hand to provide encouragement and any assistance necessary. He was also very flexible with regard to the day to day running of the course. On the administrative side, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful at all times and Paul (Lambert) is already actively seeking out teaching opportunities for me, only days after completing the course.

Paul has a strong relationship with schools and recruiters, and assissts in finding a job right after graduation. This is THE place to go for for your TELF certification. From the moment I made contact and expressed my serious interest in TEFL in Thailand, all my questions were answered. Paul is very well connected with schools and recruiters and extremely knowledgeable. Cillian, the TEFL teacher, is a highly qualified expert in teaching. Any questions you have SLS will have the answer, or find it for you. Before the course started Paul had me connected with recruiters and job offers came flying in once I arrived in Pattaya from the US. Due to how many connections this school has, plus the added benefit that the recruiters and schools know you will be a good teacher because of SLS, I accepted a job offer while in the course. The day the course ended I moved to Bangkok and began working the next day. I wouldn’t be where I am today without SLS!

I didn't expect to attend this course but I did one of the best choices of my career life. It opens for me a lot of opportunities and is very interesting. Cillian is a great teacher, you can see is very prepared since years and the lessons are very nice. All the rest of the team is great too and everything works in a natural and nice environment. The decision to enroll in the SLS TEFL program was the best decision I've ever made. For example, the management and teachers were all well qualified and experienced. March-April 2020 I enjoyed the course very much. First time in my life I looked forward to going to school every day. My expectations were fully met considering the circumstances with the virus lockdown. Couldn’t of had it better. Teachers and staff very educated and knowledgeable plus extremely friendly. I greatly enjoyed the course. Excellent instructor and great support staff. Had a “family” vibe which was nice. I liked the hands-on teaching experience and the way we were given a blueprint for how to conduct/produce lessons. Highly valuable. I didn’t like delving into grammar as much, but I understand many students might like/appreciate that, especially non-native speakers. Also, I liked the schools where we taught (Father Rays & SSC). I am now teaching high school English in Bangkok and the course prepared me well as a first-time teacher.

I liked the information included in the SLS TEFL course i.e. steps for presentation and teaching in the class. I especially liked the new vocabulary which was very useful for teaching. There were many tricks to interest students, such as stories or games to manage them and when I did practice at school the TEFL trainer also gave me feedback through videos to see how I was teaching. Moreover, I had experiences in various schools, while practice teaching, where I felt different emotions with students i.e. from teenagers to adult level. And lastly, it was fun.

I enjoyed the course, first, because it did not take as long as the CELTA course I took eight years ago, and second, with only one classmate, I did not have to listen to and critique eleven other candidate’s presentations. Instead I worked with the other candidate taking less time to complete projects and assignments. It was as I expected it to be, and it brought back some of the techniques I learned before. If someone asked me about taking the course I would recommend SLS because I found the Instructor, Mr. Cillian Hayes to be a competent and patient teacher. I cannot say whether anything should be added or subtracted as I thought pretty much everything was relevant to the course. The certificates look extremely professional and are a nice conclusion to the course. Not much else to say except keep up the good work!

This TEFL course was both interesting and challenging. It has taught me a great deal about what it’s like to be an English language teacher, and what will be expected of me. I wasn’t sure exactly what teaching would involve and was very concerned about being hired without having any teaching experience. I can now safely say I feel ready to take on a teaching position. Obtaining my TEFL certification at SLS was nothing short of a wonderful experience. As requested the instructor met with me beforehand to answer any questions I had. I felt at ease from beginning to end. My instructor was very knowledgable, organized, professional and engaging. I believe he fully prepared me to teach English as a foreign language. Not only are you given great lectures but the teaching practice is extremely helpful for some hands on experience. You are able to put everything you learn into your lessons. Not only was the instructor great but also the staff and other teachers at SLS were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I felt right at home.
