Amazing Summer 2025 in Amsterdam!

January 17, 2026by: Lily Xu - United States

Program: Sage Corps: International Internships at Startups

I am so incredibly grateful for the amazing experience I had abroad last summer in Amsterdam! Through Sage Corps I was able to work as a data analysis intern for a startup in the area, where I not only gained professional experience, but got to work on a project in machine learning for the first time, which was something I was interested in. The highlight of my summer was definitely all of the wonderful friends I made that were in my program. I had so much fun being able to connect with so many great people, and it taught me the value of saying yes to everything. We traveled and explored together, and even though I was working a 40-hour week, I definitely felt like I was able to create those meaningful relationships and try out so many new things. Wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I really had a fantastic time and would definitely encourage anyone on the edge of studying abroad to go for it, even if outside your comfort zone. I loved Amsterdam and the Netherlands because everyone was so kind and the environment was so laid back, but being able to travel to other parts of Europe was thrilling and new for me, and I really enjoyed being able to take in different cultures. Highly recommend!

I got the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Amsterdam in the summer of 2025, and it was truly a life-changing experience. Sage Corps is such a unique program because it allows you to study abroad while also getting real-world experience by working with businesses in your host country. I was able to fully immerse myself in Amsterdam’s culture, explore the city during my free time, and simultaneously grow my business skills through my internship at a startup. I can’t recommend this program enough for anyone who wants to truly live in another city and experience it on a deeper level. Working and commuting in Amsterdam every day gave me a completely new perspective on the city, and I absolutely loved it. Beyond the professional and personal growth, I also made so many amazing friends—many of whom I still talk to regularly! If you’re even slightly considering this program… DO IT!! You’ll have the summer of your dreams, make unforgettable memories, and leave with a piece of the city in your heart forever.

Interning with Sage Corps in Lisbon last summer was a wonderful opportunity. From start to finish, everything was organized, supportive, and truly transformative. The team made the entire process seamless, from matching me with a startup that aligned with my interests to helping me adjust to a new city and culture. My internship gave me real, hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup environment. I worked on meaningful business development projects that made an impact and collaborated with founders and teams who trusted me with real responsibility. It was exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Sage Corps is an amazing program that combines hands-on startup experience with full cultural immersion. Living and working abroad taught me how to adapt quickly, communicate across cultures, and think more creatively. Along the way, I met an inspiring community of international students, mentors, and entrepreneurs who made the experience even more meaningful. I would highly recommend the program.

This was my second time interning with Sage Corps! My first was in Sydney, Australia, and my most recent was in Amsterdam during the Summer of 2025. The fact that I chose to do the program twice should say everything about how much I value this experience. Sage Corps offers a rare mix of professional growth, real-world startup work, and cultural immersion. Whether it’s the amazing networking opportunities, the practical skills you build through your internship, or the lifelong friendships you make with other fellows, the program is truly one of a kind. I also loved being able to explore incredible cities while learning how to adapt and work in global environments. Sage Corps gave me both personal and professional confidence, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a transformative experience that goes beyond a typical internship.

Sage Corps did an awesome job of supporting my experience throughout the whole process. There were multiple onboarding meetings before the summer started that gave a lot of help in preparing me for my time in Spain. While I was there, the cultural activities that were included in the program were a huge highlight. We had a tour of the Gothic quarter, wine-tasting, paella making, and several traditional Spanish dinners. Additionally, my city managers were so helpful for any questions or recommendations we needed about Barcelona. Sage Corps also provides a lot of support with your internship from the interview process all the way through, making sure you have what you need to succeed!

During my time in Madrid, Spain I was a data analysis intern working on data cleaning and organization as well as creation of infographics and transferring data from different CRM's. At the end of the program I truly came away with an abundance of experiences and skills and grew on knowledge and skills I previously had so immensely. Every day was filled with work and excitement and energy and things to do. I truly loved and enjoyed the hustle and the everyday movement of activities and engaging and getting to know others in my cohort.

Hands-On Startup Experience Abroad

During my placement in Madrid, I worked on a range of research, data, and design tasks. This allowed me to contribute to the work of a growing company while learning how startups operate in a global context. You will learn to adapt fast and will be immersed in a culture other than your own, where you will grow. Sage Corps is an amazing program that pairs hands-on startup experience with global immersion. You won't be observing other people's work; you will be at the forefront of many of the company's projects from day one. You will learn so much about yourself and about how the world works. You will build a network of international peers and mentors. You will learn to adapt fast and will be immersed in a culture other than your own, where you will grow. I recommend it because experiences abroad will accelerate your personal growth, and an internship with a startup with accelerate your professional growth.

Sage Corps was a great experience all around! The program managers and city managers were incredibly helpful and super easy to reach, and created thoughtful events that helped us connect with the city. The housing was also very clean and safe. In Paris, I was, with the help of Sage Corps, placed at an amazing company and had the opportunity to work in the world’s largest startup hub. This was not only an amazing experience, but it truly prepared me for the next step in my career development. Every intern I knew was gaining true hands-on experience and felt they were making a difference at their company. I would recommend Sage Corps to anyone looking to enhance their career and spend a summer learning about themselves and their industry.

I did the 8-week internship abroad in Berlin, Germany. I was working at The Impact Company, a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) consulting firm. I was doing marketing research and B2B marketing, as well as driving social media campaigns on instagram and LinkedIn. It was one of the best experiences of my life, from gaining insight on how a business works from the inside to finding my way in a foreign country. Sage Corps provided me with plenty of activities to do in my free time from boat tours to social nights with my cohort.

Living and working abroad this summer in Sydney was one of the most special and surreal experiences of my life. I worked as a marketing intern for a startup, but what I gained was a lot more than just marketing skills. I learned how to navigate cultural differences, work with people from diverse backgrounds, and see how business strategies can shift depending on the market. I also came away with more confidence in myself and in learning how to adapt, contribute, and grow in a totally new setting.

I joined Sage Corps in summer 2025 and interned at Codam College in Amsterdam, working on data analysis and data engineering. What stood out most was the support Sage Corps provided — from resume prep and mock interviews to check-ins during the program. Beyond the work, I explored Dutch culture (a highlight was visiting Zaanse Schans), made great friends, and built connections in the Dutch tech industry. Overall, it was so much more than an internship abroad — it was career growth, cultural exploration, and friendship all in one.

The past summer living and working in Madrid, Spain, was transformative, allowing me to grow professionally and personally beyond my expectations. Interning at an early-stage startup exposed me to real-world applications of strategy skills with a supportive team, and Sage Corps was integral to this successful experience! From modules to check-ins and help always a text away, I felt I had all the resources I needed to feel comfortable in this new role. Besides the professional factor, Sage Corps also provided me with a cohort and a new group of friends, whom I saw daily during my time in Madrid. My time abroad with SAGE Corps was both professionally and personally transformative. As a marketing intern at MiAltar, I gained hands-on experience in blogs, email campaigns, and social media outreach, while also leading meetings and contributing ideas in a small team where my work made an impact. Living in Lisbon challenged me to adapt quickly, from navigating public transportation to engaging with locals, which made me more independent and confident. I also built friendships with both peers and locals, giving me a deeper appreciation for Portuguese culture. This experience pushed me to take risks, step outside my comfort zone, and grow in ways a classroom could never replicate.

My internship at Deepfile has been instrumental in shaping my future career goals. Working at the intersection of business strategy and technology gave me firsthand exposure to how startups grow, adapt, and bring innovative products to market. I learned how to analyze industry trends, communicate complex ideas clearly, and think strategically about customer and investor needs, all of which are skills that are directly transferable to careers in business, finance, and technology. Most importantly, the experience showed me the value of working in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments where I can take on responsibility early and contribute meaningfully to a team’s success. It confirmed my interest in pursuing a career that combines problem-solving, strategy, and innovation, whether in the startup world, consulting, or a larger firm focused on technology and financial services.

Summer 2025, I had the chance to intern in Madrid with Sage Corps, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I worked at ASE Athletics, a startup in sports and education, where I contributed to real projects like competitor research, potential partnerships, and financial projections. As a finance and entrepreneurship student, the work aligned perfectly with my interests and gave me hands-on experience I could never get in a classroom. Outside of work, Sage Corps made the transition easy. From the very first tapas dinner to trips like Toledo and cultural activities like the paella cooking class, I quickly connected with my cohort and got to experience Spain in a deeper way. I arrived not knowing anyone, but I left Madrid with close friends, valuable skills, and unforgettable memories. I highly recommend Sage Corps to any student looking for more than just a study abroad.

I got to live out my "Emily in Paris" dreams as "Emma in Paris" this past summer, being a marketing intern for Paradigme Mode through Sage Corps. I had a great experience going through Sage Corps, as they took care of most of the requirements for me. For example, even getting connected with a company where I would be a good fit. I had a great time over the course of my internship! I recommend going early to travel and after to travel as well if you want to see more of the continent you're on!

Sage Corps has been nothing short of incredible helping me work towards achieving my professional and personal goals. This opportunity to spend 2 months abroad has completely changed my perspective on so many aspects of my life - and pushes me to achieve bigger and better things. They were extremely helpful and welcoming through the entire process; and they ensured I was prepared well before beginning my journey abroad. Despite the Madrid experience being a new offering through Sage Corps, they had a well-planned and eventful itinerary planned, with something new each week. I was able to spend lots of time with my cohort, make new friends, travel, and even focus all my energy into my internship during the week. I genuinely don’t think I’d be anywhere close to where I am right now if I didn’t take part, and I am so incredibly grateful to Sage Corps and everyone involved for the opportunity. If you are a student looking for a chance to learn, grow, make new friends and experiences, and have an absolutely amazing summer, I highly recommend this program.

Sage Corps is unique in the managing aspect, while I think obtaining an internship abroad, there are serval factors that are not accounted for such as visa, resume building, interview skills, housing, activities to do in the city, and safety while in the country. For this global experience I was able to continue recognizing my passion for traveling and exploring other cultures.

Life Changing Internship Abroad!!

Program: Sage Corps: International Internships at Startups

The title is no lie! Being a part of the Sage Corps program led to an amazing and truly enriching experience abroad. I was placed into a great working environment where I was truly and quickly pushed to learn and grow. That's part of working for a Startup, but Sage made sure that it's students were placed in an environment where they would be actively participating in the company instead of doing simple, medial tasks. My biggest worry when initially coming into the program was that I would shipped off and dropped into a completely other continent where I had to figure everything out on my own. I'm glad to say that wasn't the case. Before I left, it was clear that the Sage Corps reps were offering a ton of lessons, advice, and guides to prepare me for this amazing experience. During the program, Sage offered near weekly events that helped all the people in my program get closer to the city, culture, and each other. The program managers were friendly and went above and beyond to try and make sure all of us felt comfortable in our new environment. Ultimately, we were given the support and freedom to explore a completely new city, country, and even continent. For me, it was Amsterdam, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! The mixture of Sage's support and work experience made me confident that everyday could be my own. If you're on the fence about taking part in Sage Corps, this is your sign!!

Remote Internship

I really thought doing a remote internship would not be as fun and valuable as a study abroad internship. However, everybody was so helpful from the start of the process till the end; from networking to preparing me for the work. Through the internship with my remote startup, I was able to learn many new things that were not available through my school but related to my majors and interests. I was able to find my passion in sustainability specifically building sustainability.

I absolutely loved interning with Sage Corps in the summer of 2022 in Dublin, Ireland. I came in not really knowing what I wanted to do career-wise, but learned so much about my professional goals and development through an incredible placement with ReFunk (women-founded furniture upcycling company) and the internship allowed me to learn about business development and startup company work culture while also growing my skills in media as I also study film and wanted to create a video series for my team. Everyone was so sweet at Dogpatch Labs and my Ireland cohort of students made the time abroad so much more fun as they truly felt like a family I could explore the world with.

Thanks to Sage Corps I had an amazing experience interning abroad! From before my departure to after my time abroad ended, Sage Corps was there helping me every step of the way. With Sage Corps, you don't just apply then get sent away. The whole Sage Corps team works to help find a start up that is right for you. Once you are a part of Sage Corps, Sage Corps cares about you and your future success. That never ends. Because of everything Sage Corps did for me before, during, and after the program, while I was there I was able to feel totally confident everyday at work and after work in a way I never felt before. I was on my own exploring a new city and taking on a new job, but I knew I was capable. This feeling allowed to me experience all my internship and the city of Barcelona had to offer. I cannot imagine a better way to have experienced living and working in Barcelona!

My internship experience in Australia at an ed tech company was nothing short of exceptional. Sage Corps not only places students in dynamic work environments but also ensures that the internships provide valuable and practical learning experiences. The exposure to a start-up culture allowed me to contribute meaningfully to my host company while developing essential skills for my future career. I was one of those students who didn't hear about Sage Corps until fairly late in the application process. The idea of going abroad was exciting, and within a few weeks I committed to join the Dublin cohort for summer 2023. I interned at a tech startup company called GreyScout, and the small staff of 12 people allowed me to make strong connections with everyone in the company. The fast-paced startup environment kept every day interesting- there was always something new to do, and my work had a tangible impact on the success of the company. I made my 20-minute walk to the office each day excited to get to work, and the internship was a great addition to my resume. Outside of the internship, getting to live and travel with a group of other students from different universities was what truly made the experience unforgettable. Hanging out and exploring Dublin after work and taking weekend trips to other cities in Ireland are memories I'll cherish forever!

Was able to learn so much about not only what I want for my career, but what I want in life as well. Being able to work abroad is so eye opening in the sense that I really did not understand just how much opportunity there is in the world until I actually went out and experienced it. Maybe I got lucky with the company I got placed in, because even though my position kindve deviated from my major (was in a Marketing position as a Finance major) I actually found out so much about myself and what I am interested in, and have found that I actually am quite good at marketing myself. Overall, this program has expanded my skill set, and is something that will certainly help me progress in the future of my career.

I am absolutely thrilled with my Sage Corps experience! Without a doubt, this past summer stands out as the most remarkable season of my life. I had the incredible opportunity to connect with numerous individuals in my age group who shared similar aspirations. Together, we embarked on journeys, shared our ambitions, and even cohabited, with some of these newfound companions becoming cherished friends. This program afforded me the invaluable chance to establish international connections, and my time in Sydney was nothing short of spectacular. Witnessing diverse ways of life across the globe was truly eye-opening, enriching my understanding of the world. I am now equipped with a wealth of knowledge gleaned from this global adventure, and it has left me with an insatiable desire to continue exploring new horizons. My initial motivation for studying and interning abroad was to discover more about myself on both a personal and professional level, and I can confidently say that Sage Corps not only met but exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable.

Sage Corps Remote is a great program for students who want to gain international work and entrepreneur experience without having to leave their homes. The program is well-organized and the staff is supportive and helpful. I was able to find a great internship with a UK based startup company in North Ireland, and I learned a lot about the internal process of business. I would highly recommend Sage Corps to any student who is interested in gaining valuable insights about real business world and get mentored directly from CEO and founders.

I really loved that I was able to go abroad and got to work with people from Berlin. A lot of my friends who went on a study abroad found that they had issues meeting locals and that they stuck mostly with the other American students. It was great to have to work and talk to the people from the area and get to know them. It allowed me to have a very different experience than others who choose to go abroad. Sage Corps also have managers in each host city who help if any issues arise, and they run events. A lot of the events that I got to attend were things that I would have never had thought to do on my own or otherwise. It was also a way to get to know the other people traveling with me. The diners were especially fun since I could learn about the other's experiences in the various areas. They were also a great way to learn about the best places to visit or eat.

Sage Corp is a unique experience for many reasons. However, what stood out to me was the internships that we worked and the experiences we had. Specifically, being with other college students created a great environment. Whether it was riding the metro to work together or grabbing lunch on our breaks, it was incredibly helpful for all of us to stay focused. All of the internships we had were with startups or environmentally focused brands, which I am incredibly passionate about. The combination of creating friendships and working towards something that I felt mattered were two of the unique aspects of Sage Corp.

I wanted to study/intern abroad to learn more about myself both personally and professionally, and Sage Corps gave me exactly what I wanted and more. My internship options were tailored exactly to my interests, and from seeing my cohorts' placements it seemed that was the case for everybody. The internship-matching process is one of the things that stands Sage Corps out from other intern-abroad programs, among their commitment to cultural immersion and student safety. We had lovely Sage Corps staff in Sydney that helped us feel looked after and supported while being in a foreign country, and this local staff was also able to pick out the best cultural and professional events for us to attend. Sage Corps also has a large and lively alumni base that was happy to connect with Sage Corps prospects before going abroad (I connected with alumni from the program in 2018 and 2019!). Despite all this, along with boosting my resume and professional experience with my dream internship, the people in my cohort are what made this experience the most special. Getting to live abroad for 2 months with students from all over the country in a multitude of disciplines (hand-picked by Sage Corps staff to ensure everyone is like-minded and driven) made for a truly life-changing experience that I am thankful for every day.

Last summer I had an unbelievable time in Paris. I completed a Marketing internship at Watch Certificate, a startup company that certifies and provides market valuations for luxury watches. At Watch Certificate I had the opportunity to create comparative analysis models of the international watch market, expand company contacts through global outreach, refine their unique selling proposition, and redesign their website using Figma to enhance the user experience. I met some of my best friends that I am currently studying and traveling abroad with. Sage Corps allowed me to experience Paris like a local and provided me with a sense of security in a foreign country.

An inspirational experience that changed my life

When I first learned about Sage Corps and its study abroad programs, I didn’t think much of it. I applied for the program and chose to study in Sydney, Australia. I didn’t believe I was traveling to Australia, even when I got accepted into the Sydney Program! After boarding my first flight, I still didn’t feel like I was going to Australia. My time in Sydney was an eye-opening and life-changing experience. The first thing I noticed was the Australian community. The places I traveled, people were welcoming and offered their help whenever they could. The amount of diversity and culture was astonishing! There were all types of people from all over the world here in one city. I loved it so much. Exploring Sydney’s nature, landmarks, and city life were beautiful. Sydney has the best of both worlds: nature and the city. If you prefer nature, there is plenty of natural aesthetics throughout the suburbs, as well as beaches, mountains, parks, etc. If you enjoy the city more, there are many activities to explore , like the famous landmarks: the Sydney Bridge, the Opera House, QVB, etc. When I traveled to Australia, there were always events that were going on that promoted culture, holidays, self-care, and many other things! I was fortunate to meet a group of Sage Corps interns who shared a similar mindset and appreciated the opportunities in Sydney. The people I met made Australia feel like another home to me. I’m honored and happy that I had the pleasure of sharing the memories and experiences I created with this group of people. I still think of them today :) My internship experience at Breakawave made a significant impact on my life. The company is about sourcing services and goods that customers need. The foundation and story behind Breakawave are inspirational and admirable because it is all about paying it forward. I had the pleasure of meeting the founder, Jonny Baird, who showed me how to view life with positivity and opportunities. I learned a lot about the little things in life that can make a huge impact. Zac Deane is another inspiring person who I met because of Breakawave. He showed me a side of health that I was not unaware and how everything can impact how you feel. Jonny and Zac both hold a tremendous amount of knowledge and share it to the world out of their kindness. The opportunity that Sage Corps provides is more than I could ever ask. Everyone has a different story and path with their study abroad journey. "Travel is the best investment you can make in yourself" is a quote I truly felt after Australia. Needless to say, I appreciate every experience with Sage Corps. Thank you.

I am really glad that I was able to participate in the Sage Corps Remote program right after my college graduation. I have a psychology background and was able to dive into the world of marketing through Sage Corps. My Sage Corps program manager was incredibly invested in understanding my career goals (exploring marketing/branding/storytelling) and finding me a diverse set of start-ups to interview with. The preliminary meetings were crucial in being able to express what it is that I wanted to gain out of the program. This is a great program because you feel you have agency in deciding what company is the best fit for you. My internship placement has allowed me to dive straight into marketing with the training I gained and I already have so many deliverables to include into my resume. I have been able to continue remotely with my company as a content writer and marketing professional and I am confident Sage Corps was the perfect next step for me! I love the remote nature of my work and am really excited about the work I'm doing and will be able to do! Thanks, Sage Corps!

I had a really nice time interning in Dublin with Sage Corps. The internship wasn't exactly in an area I was interested in but the startup had great people so I ended up having a very good experience overall. It was helpful to have a cohort of other Americans to live with and spend time outside of work with. We ended up traveling together most weekends and making the most of our time in Dublin. While it was a pricey experience, I got a lot out of it and it was helpful to have the whole process arranged for you.

I genuinely couldn't have imagined a more fun way to spend my summer. I had some doubts about my host company, but it all worked out so well. Working at a small company has different benefits than working at a large company—I learned so much more than I would have ever learned at a big-name brand. Additionally, had I stayed in the US, I would have been in California or Seattle and only been able to meet people working at my company. This allowed me to meet 24 immediate new cool and interesting people. It was the best of both worlds—I had the time of my life traveling around Europe with super cool people, and my job was rigorous and taught me how to code in SQL extensively. As long as you are somehow who is ok on their own and being tossed into a bit of a chaotic environment, I would highly recommend.

Sage Corps has been sending talented young people abroad for internships with cutting-edge entrepreneurs. Face real challenges, solve real problems, and come up with solutions. During the two-week project in 2019, we work with the company's CEO, CMO and CTO, and build real and effective solutions to real problems with their guidance and advice. Outside of working hours, we will have the opportunity to live like locals, both personally and professionally. In addition, a global network will be gradually established during the weekly professional development activities. The best thing about Sage Corps is that its impact doesn't end with the end of the project. After the completion of the project, we can still feel the great benefits brought by the company: in the eyes of future employers, the unique overseas internship experience will give us more advantages. As part of Sage Corps' network, we build relationships with some of the world's top companies and startups, led by a strong team of outstanding students, mentors, business leaders, and others.

I had a great time exploring Australia, and getting to work for a startup healthcare company. I had a lot of hands on experience and more professional responsibility than a normal internship. My favorite part was having the opportunity to go snorkeling at Great Barrier Reef. Sage Corps gave us multiple opportunities for networking events, matched us up with a startup that would value our skills, took us on group dinners, and helped us get settled in a new city. Overall it was a really good experience. The only thing that I would change is how sometimes things were a little unorganized.

After spending the summer working and living in Stockholm, I can say I would definitely recommend the program. I had an amazing experience with my cohort; collectively, we were able to maintain a nice work hard, play hard balance. The housing accommodations were also great. We were placed in a modern apartment/hotel where there was weekly cleaning and free on-site laundry. On the professional side of things, my experience was okay. Many times, the other intern and I were the only ones in the office (the company was small - 2 people total). Our bosses were open to messages, but they weren't always super responsive, so it was hard to get feedback and move on to next tasks. In addition, the networking/cultural events were rarely beneficial and seemed to be a waste of time. Although, I don't necessarily blame this on the city lead as they've obviously never attended the event so they also wouldn't know what to expect.

This program was a lot of fun. The program started off a little rough as our city lead from Sage Corps left shortly before departure. Despite the change in plans, the trip still went well. I did not work in the field I had hoped, but I was still matched with a startup that offered good professional development and an interesting product. I seemed to be lucky as many other interns worked at smaller and less collaborative startups. I learned hard skills and also developed lasting relationships with many people in the company. From a social standpoint, this program is an incredible experience. The program in each city usually takes around 10 students, so you do not have to worry about going to a new country with no friends. Most of the other students are friendly and excited to explore. Some are there for the work experience exclusively, but this is rare. The culture in Berlin is great for young people. There is always something to do, even on weekdays. Exploring Europe was a blast. I got to do several side trips and all for relatively cheap. Just make sure you plan everything in advance or hostels and transportation can become expensive. The cost of the program is high, so be prepared to start fundraising or looking for scholarships as it is too much to bear as a college student. Also be warned the program fee does not cover airfare or food. I was lucky enough to receive a stipend from my company to help pay for groceries, but not all interns are as lucky. If the money is not an issue, this program is well worth the investment.

I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Sage Corps provided me with to gain valuable work experience while traveling to new destinations around the world. In December of 2016, during the first semester of my junior year of college, I had no idea what I was going to do the following summer. I was living with two guys who were going to study abroad, and I was very jealous of them because my curriculum did not allow for me to take a semester to study abroad. It was always something that I had planned on doing and looked forward to doing, but I was not able to. I did not have a summer internship lined up and I knew that I needed one. So at this time there were two things on my agenda: find a summer internship and find a way to travel abroad. In comes Sage Corps, who allowed me to do both. After a few discussions with Matt Meltzer about the program, I knew this was something I wanted to do. The application process was very smooth, and thankfully I got accepted to go work and live in Sydney, Australia for three months. Another thing that attracted me to Sage Corps was the exposure to the startup industry. My previous work experience was with bigger companies, and I was very intrigued by the opportunity to go work at a smaller company where I had more responsibility and freedom within my role. In addition, Sage Corps staff connected our cohort in Sydney with a local individual in the startup community there who brought us around to networking and teambuilding events. Overall, I really enjoyed my summer with Sage Corps in Sydney and would highly recommend the program to anyone trying to broaden their work experience while traveling to new places that you might not get to travel to otherwise.

I just returned from my Sage Corps experience in Sydney, Australia. Sage provided me with a great internship, well located housing for me and a contact with a member of Sage Corps in the city for questions, recommendations and advice. I left Sydney (reluctantly) with not only lifelong friends, connections and one of a kind experience, but a job offer as well. As with anything, the Sage Corps experience is what you make it. The decision to intern abroad through Sage Corps was one of the best decisions I made in college. The experience I had was incredibly valuable, and certainly a big factor in leading me to the job I have today, post-graduation. The internship allowed me to work with an innovative startup making a big impact by developing unique housing solutions across Southeast Asia. Specifically, I helped implement a marketing campaign and then focused on developing corporate partnerships. I was even able to work directly with several large corporations. The Sage Corps programming also added to my experience. We were able to meet with local venture capitalists and talk with Government Officials. I would recommend this program, and Singapore, to anyone who wants a challenge and the opportunity to learn alot about entrepreneurship and business.

My time in Singapore was an exciting and fact-paced experience, both in work and in play. In my internship, I was pushed to unfamiliar areas and given meaningful assignments. To this day, I feel proud of the work I've done with the startup. Outside of work, I made a lot of great connections, whether with friends or with mentors. Last but not least, Singapore is a fantastic city, and living there for a summer is a great opportunity for someone who likes adventure. Given that they're a relatively new organization, Sage Corps does a good job of bringing it all together. I'd recommend.

Hi there, posted this on another forum as well. I recently had an internship through Sage Corps. I have to say that I would not recommend it to someone that’s looking to seriously build skills in programming, product management, design, or finance. The Sage Corps HQ team is not only shallowly interested in your professional development, they lack understanding of what it takes to make it in the startup/tech scene and therefore can’t pair students with good companies. I showed up to a startup with more interns than full time employees, a mysteriously remote team, and no direction. Sage Corps had little to say about it and didn’t do anything. When I asked for help in finding freelance work to do instead, I got no reply. The local events were vague and uninspiring. The HQ staff treated fellows like high school students and the ‘Sage Corps Community’ was in-genuine. The pros: great living situation, affable local staff, learned about the need for due diligence when making big decisions like moving across the world for three months. If you’re looking to get serious mentorship, this isn’t the route for you. Nice concept, but poorly executed.

Hi there, my name is Cara Rebernick and I'm the Director of Programming at Sage Corps. I first want to sincerely apologize that you feel as though you did not receive the experience that you expected. We work hard to ensure that all Fellows participating in the program are placed in meaningful internships in which they are able to develop professionally. Before the matching process begins, we vet startups to ensure they are able to provide exceptional experience during a students' internship. Unfortunately, we cannot completely control a startup's behavior and the projects they are willing to provide to students. That said, we put a process in place to help support our students advocate as any intern/employee would to the supervisor. <br/><br/>We always do our best to respond to all students' concerns, feedback and questions. I am unsure who you reached out to about concerns regarding your startup and freelance work, but I genuinely apologize if you did not receive a response. Our intention is never for our students to feel alone, ignored, or unimportant. We take every participant's experience seriously and do everything we can to ensure the process runs smoothly.<br/><br/>We set very high expectations for our company and team members and certainly want to address any instance where a student feels that we did not meet those expectations. I'd love the opportunity to speak with you further about your experience, if you are willing. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly at cara (at) sagecorps (dot) com.

Over the two months I worked at a tech startup on software development and maintenance. I did not know much going into the internship but was able to build a fully functional website (mainly back-end) for my startup in the end. I also wrote test cases for a web app. Besides, I learned a great deal about entrepreneurship and startups in Asia in general. Singapore has amazing food, tourist attractions and night life. It is also easy to travel abroad to see the completely different cities in Southeast Asia.

I'm currently a student at Penn and I am very passionate about entrepreneurship. I had the chance to go back and work at a bulge bracket bank, and set myself up to work for them and make great money. I turned it down because I wanted to experience abroad life and working at a startup and I happily now know I made the right decision. First, Dublin is an amazing city with great social life and startup culture. Everyone is a hustler out there, looking for the next unicorn. That gives you the chance to learn from everyone you talk to. Secondly, Matt and the Sage Corps program did an awesome job setting up events and activities for us to meet the right people in the VC/startup community and have fun. We got to visit and speak with people from a top VC firm, the NDRC, and the Google office. On top of that, the quality of startups that Sage Corps is partnered with there are the best of the best. Sage Corps made the introduction very easy and placed me somewhere they knew I would succeed. The startup where I was placed as a Business Development intern, Popdeem, is a social rewards platform. They not only had the most potential out of all the startups I saw in Dublin, but they are an amazing team which was always willing to help me learn. I learned everything from day-to-day operations of startups, culture, financing, business development, etc. I even became a pro at using Adobe Photoshop for design! Sage Corps also has a program coordinator based in Dublin that you speak with every week just in case you ever need anything and he also helps coordinate great social events. There is also great opportunities to get jobs at the startups you work. Many of the fellow Sage Corps I went with either got return offers, one ended up even starting her own company there. Overall, Sage is an amazing program and its a program I would recommend to anyone and everyone. Great job, Matt, it was an experience I enjoyed so much.

I was picked up by Enrique, a driver, from the airport when I arrived in Buenos Aires. I found it difficult to engage him in conversation, I didn't know much about his thoughts, what he would like to talk about, what an Argentine man would like to talk about at all. On top of that my Spanish was not as good as I thought it would be, so the drive to my apartment was quiet. On my way back home, Enrique happened to drive me again to the airport. As soon as I sat in the car, we started talking, and the whole ride was full of laughters. After two months, I realized I had learnt how to hold good conversation with anyone from this city. I had become a porteño, as they call it.
