Program Overview

Looking to start an exciting career in the media while making a positive difference in the world? Then look no further; this is the opportunity for you.

During this media internship, you’ll have the opportunity to explore different media tools to demonstrate the organization’s vital animal welfare and environmental work. Your roles will be varied, exciting, and offer enough challenges to keep you on your toes. One day you may be capturing drone footage of birds of prey swooping over the forest canopy, the next you may be creating an animation to tell a heartwarming story from the sanctuary.

You’ll be surrounded by beautiful nature, with the Portuguese forest as your playground, getting inspiration from the sights, sounds, and smells around you.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to all the most common questions about Roots Interns.

Do I need to bring my own equipment with me, e.g. DSLR camera?

You’ll have access to all equipment at the sanctuary, so you don’t need to bring your own equipment (but can bring personal equipment if you would like to).

Do I need extensive experience with all multimedia tools listed?

While it’s preferable you have some understanding/experience of different multimedia, such as DSLRs and photo editing software, you don’t need to know everything in detail as you will get some training with each piece of equipment/software during orientation.

Can I eat meat during my stay at the sanctuary?

As the organization promotes sustainable living practices, they ask all interns to stick to a vegetarian diet during their stay.
