Full Immersion

From start to finish, my experience with Impact India was nothing short of remarkable. They walk you step by step to secure all travel documents prior to the trip and share an extensive packing list with recommendations. While in India, each day was packed with learning about the culture, working with students, honoring customs and holidays, and eating THE most delicious meals. Volunteering in different areas of the campus was an exceptional way to connect with students and engage with the staff. Traveling with the Puranik Foundation is the only way to fully embrace all that India has to offer.

Starting the day off with rooftop yoga; no better way to kick off the day!

Impact India impacted me forever!

The Puranik Foundation does amazing work with American youth! My experience with the Impact India program was safe, fun, and impactful. I am still in contact with my student "family" I worked with during my trip. Everyone is fun and easy to work with with, and I truly feel connected to their mission and will be a lifelong supporter. This program is excellent for any teen who is looking to explore another culture in a safe, immersive way.

A once in a lifetime experience

When I had got recommended for the Impact program I was happy and, a little scared because it was the first time I had every done something like that before. They helped me get though the process and made sure that I was able to get my visa and passport on time. The plane ride was a little tight but there was plenty of things to do to take my mind off of it. When we arrived to the campus we was greeted by a welcome party by the kids at the campus. We experienced the different festivals and traditions that are celebrated and were able to participate in them. It was a very different view to see from life here in Houston is to India.

What inspired you to travel abroad?

Because I am a full time student, my work schedule can be less than normal at times. But usually, I will clock in, and work on any projects that may need to get done. This can include communicating with prospective travelers, their parents, and educators, as well as helping with social media and some graphic design. I usually will then clock out, head to class, and come back and do it all again!

I love investigating new cultures, so travelling to India was a no-brainer for me. I have always seen how India is portrayed in the media, but of course how different countries, cultures, and groups of people are represented in our media can be very different to what they actually are in real life. I felt like I needed to see and experience India for myself. Another aspect was my parents. They are also really well traveled, so they have been a huge inspiration for me as well.
