Dr. Anup Bista Nepal Ambassador I am Dr Anup Bista, MD Anesthesia (AIIMS, New Delhi). I came to know about this organization with the help of my friend. I am really glad to be part of this organization. I have really given my best to help the people who are having trouble with their health issues by raising awareness to the community about acquired diseases and STI. I help mobilize resources to help in the implementation of health related programs. I’ve had a good experience and working relationship with PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) and I wish everyone joined us to advance our services. You can contact me at anupbista1110@gmail.com.

What a Fruitful Learning Experience at PLANE Uganda

by: Mohammed Ayan Mohmood - American SamoaProgram: Volunteer in Uganda: Family Clinic Radio Project

What a Fruitful Learning Experience at PLANE Uganda It has been my honour to volunteer for PLATFORM for the NEEDY, in Fort Portal, Uganda as in Graphic Design and Marketing, for a tenure of 6 months now. From the past 6 months, I worked along with a diverse team and the executive director of PLATFORM for the NEEDY, Mr. Steven Waddell himself. Through the course of the internship, and under the guidance of Mr. Waddell, I was given opportunities to bring forward my ideas, abilities, leadership qualities and creativity. Working alongside Mr. Waddell led me to understand the deep humanitarian cause of PLATFORM for the NEEDY. Indeed the organisation is built around a noble cause, especially encompassing uplifting of children and women through education, raising awareness, combating stereotypes and betterment of Western Region of Uganda through health and literacy promotion. Through PLANE, children have received education, women have been given their fundamental rights, and rural communities have been brought to light. Remarkably, one of the unique ways in which the organisation delivers awareness is through radio talk shows, dramas and skits. The organisation also targets often subjugated and sensitive topics like gender-based violence, to further show devotion to its cause. The internship has also proved to be a window into the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes of Uganda. The ‘Greening Uganda Schools’ initiative in particular highlighted the generosity of the people and their deep connection to their environment. For the last six months, the internship has allowed me to discover various aspects of Uganda’s beauty in new and enriching ways. As a Graphic Designer and Marketing Director, I took on the responsibilities of crafting compelling images and videos to spread the cause. I also managed web pages of the organisation, and contributed in meetings. The work I performed was completely based on my freedom to do, and I was adeptly rewarded for it through special awards and letters of recommendation. These perks enabled me to boost my resume and apply to colleges as an undergraduate. Indeed it has been a fruitful internship experience for me. Mohammed Ayan Mohmood!
