I truly value the clinical exposure I get with NAU

I find the early clinical exposure particularly interesting because it introduces students to aspects of medicine beyond the lecture room. NAU describes observational opportunities in emergency and inpatient care settings at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Anguilla, alongside educational activities related to anatomy and pathology. I think these experiences can help students understand the connection between basic science and patient care. As I progress through my first year, I am keen to learn more about how these elements fit into medical training.

Preparing for Clinical Training and Growing Into the Doctor I Want to Become

Being in my third year of the MD programme, I have started thinking more seriously about the kind of doctor I want to become and the skills I will need once I begin working with patients. There is still so much for me to learn, and sometimes the amount of knowledge required can feel overwhelming. At the same time, I find it motivating to see how the things I study now will eventually help me understand patients and make informed decisions. I want to feel prepared when I enter a clinical environment, not only because I know the theory, but because I can use that knowledge in practice. For me, building that confidence step by step is one of the most important parts of my medical education.

really happy with my experience at NAU - in my third year of PreMed now

Premed taught me that you cant always rely on the subjects you already know well. Biology was always easier for me but I had to put more effort into chemistry and some of the other topics. I started spending more time reviewing the material and going back to things I didnt understand the first time. The study resources were really useful for that because I could work through difficult topics at my own pace. Over time I became more disciplined with my studies and more confident about tackling subjects that used to feel difficult. I think that is something I will take with me into the next stage of my education.

The professors here explain everything thoroughly and have helped me so much

I appreciate professors who explain the reasoning behind what we are learning, especially when it connects to practical medicine. Those are usually the classes I remember most. Practical relevance is important to me when I study.

My Experience With the MD Programme

I am in my first year of the MD programme at NAU, and one habit I have developed already is writing down questions while I study. Sometimes the question is about something very small, like a term I do not fully understand or a detail that was mentioned quickly in class. I still write it down because I know that if I clear up that small point, the rest of the topic usually becomes easier to follow. I also find that asking questions helps me remember the material for much longer. Once I have discussed something and properly understood why it works the way it does, it tends to stay in my head rather than feeling like something I memorised for a test. As a first-year student, I think this has been one of the better study habits I have picked up so far.

I have great support here

I am currently in my second year of the Premed programme at NAU, and one thing I have really appreciated throughout my time here is the support whenever I need it. I tend to have quite a few questions about my classes or things I am studying, especially when I come across something I do not fully understand. It is reassuring to know that I can ask and actually get an answer rather than having to figure everything out on my own. That has made the online Premed experience much more comfortable for me and has helped me stay confident with my studies.

Asking Questions and Exploring Beyond the Lecture

I tend to ask a lot of questions when I am studying, particularly when I come across something that does not seem completely clear to me. One thing I appreciate about the Premed programme is being able to raise those questions and explore the reasoning behind the material rather than simply moving on. Since the classes are online, I have also become more comfortable researching questions independently after class and returning to the subject with a better understanding. This has made my learning much more analytical and has encouraged me to be genuinely curious about the science.

Feeling very supported in my studies here

something i have appreciated since arriving is knowing that i can ask someone when i am unsure about something. i am the type of person who wants to understand everything properly and having people around who are willing to answer my questions is really helpful.

A Curriculum I Really Enjoy

I have really enjoyed the development of the curriculum throughout my MD studies. The subjects become increasingly connected to clinical medicine as you progress, and I find that this gives the material much more meaning. By third year, I can see how much the earlier scientific foundation has contributed to my understanding of more advanced topics.

This programme helped become organized and confident to understand all materials properly

The programme has helped me become much more independent with my learning. I have learned how to organise my time, work through difficult material and take responsibility for understanding topics properly. That has been one of the most valuable things I have taken from my experience at NAU.

Building Confidence in Clinical Reasoning

One of the areas in which I have noticed the most personal development during my MD studies is clinical reasoning. As a second-year student, I am becoming increasingly interested in how individual pieces of information contribute to understanding a clinical problem. Working through medical scenarios requires more than recalling isolated facts; it requires consideration of the information available and an understanding of how different findings relate to one another. I have found this particularly interesting because it changes the way I approach studying. I am increasingly asking myself why a particular finding occurs and what it could indicate, rather than simply trying to memorise the information.

Great support from the faculty

the faculty have been really approachable since i started at NAU. if i dont understand something or need help with a topic, i can actually speak to someone about it. that has made a big difference for me especially with the harder subjects

A Strong Foundation for Medical Training

The MD Pre-Clinical programme at New Anglia University has been a very valuable part of my medical education so far. They do whatever is necessary to build a proper understanding of the basic medical sciences before moving further into clinical training. What I like is that the subjects are not treated as completely separate areas of study. As you progress it becomes easier to see how the different topics relate to each other and how they contribute to understanding the human body and disease. Another aspect I have found useful is the introduction to clinical reasoning and medical concepts at an early stage. It gives more context to the scientific material and makes studying it feel more relevant. Instead of only focusing on remembering information for exams, there is more emphasis on understanding the concepts and being able to apply what you have learned to medical situations. The programme has also required me to become much more organised with my studying. Keeping up with the material takes consistency and independent work, which I think is good preparation for the demands of the later stages of medical school. Although there have been difficult topics and periods where the workload felt quite intense, I have noticed a real improvement in both my understanding and confidence since starting. Overall, I feel that the MD Pre-Clinical programme is giving me a solid academic base and a better idea of what to expect as I continue my medical training.

Trusting New Anglia with my whole studies has been my best choice so far!!

I’ve been enjoying the MD Pre-Clinical programme at New Anglia University so far. The workload can be a lot sometimes, but I feel like I am getting a much better understanding of the subjects rather than just memorising everything. I also like that we are introduced to clinical topics early on because it makes the science more interesting and easier to relate to medicine.

my experience has been great so far

My experience with the Premed programme at New Anglia University has been very positive. The programme has provided me with a strong foundation in the core subjects I will need for my future medical studies, while also helping me develop better academic habits and a more structured approach to learning. I found the transition into the programme challenging at first, but with time I became much more comfortable with the workload and expectations. I also appreciate that the programme is focused on preparing students for the next stage rather than simply covering academic content. Overall, Premed has given me greater confidence in my abilities and made me feel much better prepared to continue towards medical school.

This university made me decide that I want to pusue a career as a doctor!

Choosing what to study wasn’t an easy decision at first. The online learning experience at New Anglia University really helped make things clearer. The classes are interactive, engaging, and give you the opportunity to be involved rather than simply watching and listening. That experience made the subjects much more interesting and helped build a genuine interest in medicine. It gave me the confidence to commit to this path, and I’m now looking forward to continuing my studies and working towards becoming a doctor.
